I have mine like yours all the cottons are done on the comic boards and sorted by color in my wire baskets in racks and fat quarters and charm packs in baskets, 1/2 yards are in baskets too. I have 2 containers of scraps and 1 basket that I keep on the floor for larger leftover pieces. Just re arranged my area so it is really clean now, I also got one of the Safeco tables with the adjustable shelf to set my machine on, works great I will post pics tomorrow :)

Your being funny, right? You want help with organization? Where, your garage? You could give lessons.

Really looks great to me. This is totally foreign to me I have ADD, putting things back where they go is almost imposable, let alone finishing an organization of fabric.

I have my fabrics in one of those cheap-o white plastic shelves and the stacks do topple over because the shelves are spaced too far apart. The vertical dowels are a great idea.!
My 2-yds. & over fabric is folded and stored in a big plastic tub. I did have a traditional bookshelf kinda like yours but one shelf fell out of its slots because it got too heavy. Who knew fat quarters could weigh so much!?!

Your idea is awesome. I have a closet I took out the hanging rods and blocked off with inexpensive bookcases I bought at WalMart. Then folded all materials larger than 1/2 yard around a regular piece of paper (8.5x11"). They stack beautifully, lay flat and show enough of the color/design to pick out what I want easily. Any fabric smaller than 1/2 yard is wrapped around 1/2 sheet of paper (5.5x4.25") which again lay nicely on the shelves. This gives me an easy guide for folding and costs little. I like card stock (65 lb) paper best but do not always have it and regular copier paper works just fine, too.

Oops...half sheet of paper is 8.5x5.5...sorry about that.
