Great looking organization!! Inspiring to us all.
|
My sewing room closet has wire baskets and I sort my fabric according to color regardless of yardage. My backing fabrics are stacked together. One basket is for crib quilts. I have a scrap box where all the small or leftover scraps go. Any leftover squares are placed in baggies in the scrap box
along with leftover strips. I do not buy fatquarters only yardage. Everyone organizes differently, you need to organize however is the most efficient for you when you need to pull fabrics for quilts. |
[quote=belmer]How about useing it.... that might solve some of your problems.
Are you actually supposed to USE your stash ?;-) |
The old saying goes..."She who dies with the most fabirc wins." Not sure what they would win, but I have to bet I can match almost anyone. And that's not a brag but a telltale of a real packrat. Go figure! *W*

I really try to use my stash-I have a huge stack of quilt tops that just need quilted.....apparently I bought too much in the past. I have a large amount that I am getting rid of soon and my mom and sis just visited and helped themselves to a large suitcase full of fabrics!
|
Wow! I want to come over to your houses and play! Everything is so neat and pretty! I think both of your rooms look great. No further organization needed!
|
I think you are already organized! Much more than myself anyway! I need to take lessons from you! LOL I love your stash. It all looks very nice

What is ruler folding? I keep all my 1 plus yd pieces together. I store mine by theme and if possible color. Much are children's prints. Cuts are kept together. I must use plastic tubs but have 1 armoire that I mostly keep flannels, twill and upholstery fabric in. You have done a marvelous job...you are to be congratulated. Mine looks like that for a few days and then I go back to careless/tired.

Ruler folding is fun and easy, a great way to keep your fabrics uniform in size. I only fold my cottons this way. The flannels are kept on another shelf.
Here is a link with a great tutorial on it: http://turningturning.com/tutorial-folding-fabric/ |
Those shelves look like they came out of the LQS.
For those of you who sort BY COLOR...do you include seasonal and holiday and kids fabrics and batiks in with the BY COLOR sorting? Do you keep it separated? |
