Just re arranged my area so it is really clean now, I also got one of the Safeco tables with the adjustable shelf to set my machine on, works great I will post pics tomorrow :)

Juliebelle, where did you find the Safeco table? It's just what I need.

I'm not Juliebelle, but I have some ideas for you on the Safco table. Fortunately, I picked mine up for only $15 at a Salvation Army store. So, you might pay attention to the thrift stores. Otherwise, here are a few places they're available:

For $95.99 and only $2.95 shipping from Overstock.com:

For $99 -

Hope this helps. I sure do LOVE mine!! They're made very well, quite sturdy and heavy. I do get a little vibration at high speeds, but it is still my best option for flat bed sewing at this point.

Thanks for the info. I have a sewing machine cabinet that has another machine in it and using the table is uncomfortable for any length of time. It lets the machine sit too high.

You've taken all the fun out of quilting. Going on a fabric safari through the piles and sacks of fabric in my quilt closet is half the fun.

MaggieLou, I bought tables 2'x4' from Sam's Club, to back up to my commercial machine tables for more space.
I took the plastic feet off, measured how much of the legs had to come off to make the tables the same height as the sewing machine table.
You can then cut the legs off with a hacksaw or an electric SawZall. Put the feet back on and you're all set.
I put mine in a corner situation so nothing would fall to the floor.
2 more tips... A long handled pick-up tool. A telescoping wand with a magnet on the end.
JoAnn's had a great one, but when my builder son saw it, he said, "Thanks, Mom"

Beautiful room, I'm new to sewing and I would really like to know wherre you get the comic boards to put your material on. Can you get it online as there really isn't a nearby hobby store for me to get them at. Thanks!

One thing I just recently seen in a store...were the plastic deals you can wind up fabric on..they come in small and large. Well.. I just decided to save some money and I cut some out of cardboard similar size and can wrap my fabric on them now and they are much easier to store and find! Ex: 10x14 size is large I think.. and they can line up easily on a shelf..love this idea!

what do they call them, so I can look for them online, I would love to get some, I'm an organizational freak!

Most fabric stores will also give you their empty bolts and I find these are great for storing fabric on!

I'm not sure if I am understanding your question. When I look at both photo's I like the top one> I'm not fond of baskets that are not see through. I like to see my material although mine is not neat like yours.

Hi Natalie, I personally like the first one as I love colors. I fold on the ruler as well and put anything 1/2 yard and more in the method. I put full FQ in skinny drawers and the bigger scraps in the wide drawers. Like the strips and etc. I also put them in those drawers by colors. Like reds all in one blues all in one yellows and so on. I will post a picture of mine later on this week I am cleaning my area good this summer. I have been a quilt maker for over 30 years. I started in 1977 in the fall and have not looked back!. So over the years I have accummulated a lot of fabrics. I love the clean and not cluttered look of the first photo! my 2 cents woth.
