After everything was stacked in them, I put them back right so I could put the lids on and stack them -- but standing them on their sides while stacking the fabric made it easier to line up all the folds

we bought cardboard boxes at Loews for about a $1 a box and hubby cut them up on his skill saw. Some were large enough for yardage and some were cut for fat quarters and scraps. Milk cartons were the perfect size for the larger ones while those photo boxes you get at Hobby Lobby, Michaels, etc were perfect for the smaller ones.

This photo is just one side of my closet - I only put these up on the top. The bottom of the closet has totes and those plastic drawer things.

That is an awesome idea! Using milk cartons to create shelving. I will definitely have to look into some of those pieces of cardboard for yardage. The pictures totally make it make sense!
