Wow...this is brilliant. I wonder if a sturdier version might be created out of a scrap of quilting template plastic? I suppose sticking it down might involve some experimentation though. Hmmmm...

I will try this first thing tomorrow when I get to my machine after morning chores. Thanks so much for this tip.

That's a really good tip! Thanks. Have a Merry Christmas and may we all be safe!

Wow! This is pure genius...thanks so much.

What a great tip! Thank you, Tartan!

love this. I also use painters tape on fabric to ensure that I stitch straight lines. I'm a very beginning, beginner and used this to make my first quilt - diamonds. Worked great.

I'm a relatively new quilter. I'm not sure what the single hole is all about. I mean, I know that the needle will break if I stitch a zig-zag with the wrong presser foot, but how does the stitch-plate matter?
|
The plate has a slot to accommodate a zigzag or any stitch that goes side to side. It can also cause the fabric to get pushed down thru it. some machines have a second plate with just a hole for straight stitches only to prevent this. Many machines do not have that option so a fix like this is helpful

My machines, Pfaff 1222e and Brother PCR 420, have a horizontal hole in the switch plate. What does that mean regarding the prevention of corners being gobbled up?
