For me there is 'pretty' paisley and 'ugly' paisley :). If it's bright, colorful and fun, then I'm all over it! Otherwise, it looks a little old-fashioned, in my opinion.

I had inherited a lime green, bright blue and turquoise BIG print paisley. About 2 yards of it. Had not decided how to use it yet. This one was definately IN YOUR FACE.

Anyway, it became one of the blankets we made for Alabama. I love the piece but had no immediate plans for it. So someone else will be enjoying my pretty!

I love paisley! The design lends a complexity of texture to quilts. The lighter pastels remind me of the 1960s.

Paisley reminds me of my father's dressing gowns. He was British and always had one or two that he wore with his leather slippers and smoked his pipe before retiring for the evening.

thenonnielady 06-26-2011 02:46 AM

I love it. Lots of color (usually) to pull from.

jitkaau 06-26-2011 02:47 AM

It reminds me of the 70s and I don't mind it.

Somethings never go out of style.

Yooper32 06-26-2011 04:10 AM

Have always been partial to them.

edensgaite 06-26-2011 04:16 AM

Going to be totally honest...I don't like paisley. It resembles sperm.

Rettie V. Grama 06-26-2011 04:29 AM

I like paisleys for making hidden 9 patches. It brings out the individual designs.

Rettie V. Grama 06-26-2011 04:30 AM

Your imagination is on something other than quilting.

Homemother 06-26-2011 04:31 AM

I love paisley as long as it doesn't look exactly like the handkerchiefs we have in the drawer. I'm drawn to the more intricate and diverse paisley designs. So pretty!

romanojg 06-26-2011 04:31 AM

I love it. I have some of the civil war reproduction and use when ever I can in those quilts. I also love it in other things. I just found some pretty corduroy paisly fab that my friend sent me and I'm going to do an upline jacket with it.

dinlauren 06-26-2011 04:47 AM

Love, love, love paisleys. Love the shape and the design within each shape.....mmmmmmmm

mrs theo 06-26-2011 04:49 AM

Love it! I have paisley on my dining room chairs, on my bed, and in a couple of blouses : )

i think it's amazing that something so simple can be enjoyed by more than one generation!!

Rose Bagwell 06-26-2011 05:33 AM

I love paisley. Have used it on several of my projects. I am reminded of the Victoriana era, women, delicate and intriecate at the same time. I particular like the purple hues. I draw the other colors from the print itself. Love it.

Janet Leigh 06-26-2011 05:48 AM

I absolutely love Paisley and my stash proves it!!

Aurora 06-26-2011 05:54 AM

I also love Paisley. Including it usually brings in additional color options and I love color options.

callie72va 06-26-2011 06:09 AM

I love them for backing on some of my quilts. They are good for hiding the faults in my quilting. HAHA

dotski 06-26-2011 06:12 AM

LOVE IT

Robinmg 06-26-2011 06:18 AM

I love them. I am currently making quilts for granddaughters that has pink, blue, and purple paisleys in them.

Funny thing is that paisley reminds me of fabric from Grandma's time - back in the early, early 1900's. Love paisley.

Thea 06-26-2011 06:28 AM

I love paisley. Always have.

MYWR 06-26-2011 06:36 AM

I''l be the descending opinion . . . HATE IT ! reinds me of a red and gold dress my mother made me wear in the 50's which had elastic on the arms - puff sleeve - and it pinched and nad I hated that dress !! Didn't matter to my mother ! I wore it anyway. Same thing with plaids ! Hate thosee too - had to wear wool pleated skirts and I was NOT skinny!! I felt like a house !
Funny how your childhood memories pop right up !

gramarraine 06-26-2011 06:36 AM

Most of the time I don't love them or hate them. Once in a while I will see one that just jumps at me but not so much that I have to buy it.

Sandra-P 06-26-2011 06:45 AM

Love it!

catrancher 06-26-2011 06:47 AM

Reminds me of The Monkees and being in the eighth grade!

I hate paisley but I had to do a quilt for my LQS and it was called perfectly paisley. It was nice and the colours were soft but still not my thing.

My feelings exactly!
:-P

Dianemarie 06-26-2011 06:59 AM

Just love love them in any color and size. They are just beautiful. Don't know why I'm so crazy for them I just am.

JoAnnGC 06-26-2011 07:17 AM

What's not to like? Paisley prints are so much more interesting than dull drab prints. I've used paisley for everything from quilts to tote bags to home accessories. They blend well with so many different fabrics and can look very modern or very traditional.
