paper pieced project

Some of you were kind enough to give me some advise about this project in a different post. I finally was able to finish..... getting those points was awfull. Should I leave as is , or cover with a circle?

I think it needs to be covered with a circle. I haven't tried to match that many points so don't know what I will every do when I have to.

I think I would cover it with a circle made from the same red fabric that you have used in the block. Oh and look .... there are circles on the red fabric. Perfect! By the way, it is a great block with wonderful use of colors/fabric! When I try to match up points like this, I usually have to baste the piece first and then fiddle with it until I can get it right .... or at least close. That was a tough block to do.

Totally agree. But before you do a circle see what happens with a temporary hexie. Then compare. Just an idea. You had some really sharp points to have to work with.

I have trouble matching points on a pinwheel block! I love the colour choices and would agree a circle or perhaps hexagon to cover the centre. Agree with KLO - that was a tough block!

You did really well getting those points to lay flat. I might add a button if it is for a pillow or maybe a Christmas embroidery patch.

You did a great job getting the block to lay flat! The colors are really nice. I think it does need something in the center. Depends what you are going to use it for, but I would go with either a yo-yo or an appliqued circle.

good to have a challenge.... this was definitely outside my box.... I think I will try it again after Christmas..... lots of matching... even with paper pieceing... Thanks ladies... I will post a finished product.....

If I were to guess the biggest obstacle in making this more accurate is careful ironing. The outer parts of this design align well but where you get a little off is when you sew and flip the red and cream. Try a dab of a glue stick to prevent fabric shifting when sewing...plus ironing the seams open when a lot of points come together. Add something in the center and try again!

Yes, do try doing another after the rush of the holidays......you cannot leave this challenge unconquered!
