Would you be able to use quilt basting spray instead of fabric glue for paper piecing?
Thanks

I don't use any adhesive at all- I just hold it in place. That probably isn't correct but it works for me. I have used a plain old glue stick, and it works very well, but holding the fabric in place is just easier for me.

I use a small pin when necessary, but usually just hold them in place.

i don't use any type of adhesive either.

i only pin the pieces when i've fussy cut and need the design to center perfectly - otherwise i just place it over the section and sew on the line.

I use Elmers school glue stick. It's an essential tool for me. I can't paper piece without it.

how do you get the paper out if you glued it to the fabric?

The paper pulls off easily. I took a class many years ago & I was taught to use a school glue stick. It works great to hold the 1st piece in place. It also works great for securing larger pieces. Try it you'll like it. Store it in the fridge too.

Elmer's School Glue is not a glue, it's a thick starch. It will dissolve in water. Fabric stuck to paper or to fabric will pull apart easy, even after heat set. I have diluted it with water and used it in a spray bottle for extra heavy starch. Great for pleats in clothing.

thanks so much for letting me know about this. i'm going to have to give it a try.

i work with very long curving pieces in my quilts and i'm always looking for ways to stiffen the pieces so they're easier to work with.

i learn new stuff here every day.
