One of the ways I've discovered to remove the paper is to spritz the paper and they remove real easy. Also if you run a seam ripper over the stitching line help to remove them also.....hope this makes sense.

Paper piecing is next on my list. Need to get off puter and get busy.

I'm also a senior member........any way to get started at paper piecing you could try some charity quilt blocks from the Linus Project.
I first got started when I was with a group of ladies in a sewing group and that day I was a nervous wreck. The best way to learn is by yourself ......I bought a PP book and just made like quilt blocks for pot holder use and I really enjoy it. There are video's you can watch that will show you. But the best way is to be by yourself when you have the time to play.. |
I haven't tried PP yet, but am looking forward to it.....when I have time!

I found 'Stitch 'n Wash' by Taylor. They are dissolving foundation sheets. A little spendy but ooooh so worth it! I hate tearing all that paper also. With this you can copy right onto it, stitch it, dip it in water and forget the tearing of the paper!

Have to admit that I haven't done much PP but really do enjoy it, especially since a friend showed me how to do it without sewing thry the paper and not having to do all that ripping out of tiny paper pieces. So much easier AND faster. Guess I should do another PP project soon.

Good for you because there are people out there who hate it. I really enjoyed as well. One of the most difficult blocks (for me that is) was an airplane baby quilt I made for my grandson. Make sure you show us what you've made.

I am working on my second paper pieced project and I like it! Such nice sharp points when you need it! I use freezer paper, use a tiny stitch, and if I have a problem taking anything off I grab the tweezers! Helps alot. I like the wet q-tip idea to. It is a great technique but I still love paper piecing for most projects. I still have a bucket list of techniques that I want to learn, too!
