Carol Doak's paper is just newsprint. You can get a large amount (like 500 sheets) for less than $10 from many office supply places. Office Depot I know sells it online. But you do have to add shipping. Even then it is cheaper than $10 for a pack of Carol's paper.

But often I too just use regular copy paper with very short stitches.

If price isn't an issue then it's lightweight translucent vellum. I've tried all types of paper products made for paper piecing and vellum is the best. It goes through the printer, less frustrating to tear away and no paper bits to go all over. I bought a ream of it online when I found a sale and it will probably last me the rest of my quilting life.

Me too. I've used computer paper, but I find the Carol Doak paper easier to remove.

I use cheap printer paper, newsprint or kids drawing paper. I like cheap printer paper best.

I was given a set of blocks that had been pieced to pages from the Yellow Pages! Exquisite work, and interesting reading as well.
