What kind of paper is best for paper piecing?
|
I use the cheapest computer paper I can buy. The thinner the better.

Thanks

I love vellum - it tears off so nicely. Some like newsprint or regular copy paper.
What have you tried so far? |
I use computer paper with no problems.

I love using Carol Doak paper, it's like the thin drawing paper, however it can be a bit pricey, so I tend to use regular copy paper. The cheaper the better.

I've done a LOT of paper piecing. I've used copy paper, June Taylor paper-piecing paper, newsprint (clean), and vellum. I prefer vellum overall, but the stuff made specifically for paper piecing works great too. I like vellum because I can see the printed lines through it.
I've actually switched to the fold-and-sew technique of paper piecing, it works much better for me. No tearing, no pulling stitches. |
when i choose to use paper i like velum, or paper piecing paper- but wash away foundation paper is WONDERFUL! it is easy to see through- tears away well- and what is left washes away easily-
i don't like printer paper because it is stiff- and more difficult to tear away- also stiffer to fold and sew on- most of the time i use a lightweight stablizer or muslin- and leave it in- but if i decide i want to remove- i really prefer the wash away. |
