paste up sheet

I've been watching Eleanor Burns and finding that I quite like the "paste up sheets" she uses to map out her fabrics for a pattern. Does anyone use them? Where do you find them?

She has these in her earlier books.

Not aware of any discussions. They are included in some of her books s/a lovers knot & log cabin. I find them very useful for making color choices, etc.

you could certainly make them up for yourself. I like to use them and they help me to be organized as I worked. I prefer this method to coloring.

I have to clip a piece of every fabric that is going in to a new quilt and then glue them to a piece of paper. It keeps me straight . Is this what you're talking about?

What are paste up sheets? Never heard of these.

yes, I'm curious as well... although it sounds like a blank copy of a pattern block wherein you could paste your fabric selection to audition them for your quilt. (?) If so, such a neat idea.

I use a paste up sheet to keep things organized. It gives me one less thing to have to remember and frees my mind up for pleasant thoughts.

I just make my own by either roughly drawing the block or photocopying the pattern and then taking snippets of the fabric and either taping or gluing them on. I have even been known to take them to the fabric shop when buying the fabric and right there in the shop once the fabric is cut making my paste up sheet. What seemed so logical in the fabric shop isn't always so easy to recall when I get home.
