I have some of her instructional videos and love them. Your feathers are great!

great job, Watson. So glad you had such a great class-I love when that happens!

Yup I took a class in person. Also have both her craftsy classes she is awesome. I even thought it would be huge transition to longarm but nope my feather skills transfer over. She has the best feather class by far on craftsy

Very nice work. I too was afraid to try machine quilting and took a class. Was so glad I did it. I would still

be sitting here thinking about it

Great feathers Watson...I enjoy reading about your FMQ experiences. You are clearly enjoying the journey.

Wow, your feathers look great! Thanks for the review. I'll be sure to watch her craftsy class!

Your feathers are lovely. I have taken the Craftsy class and enjoyed it. She is indeed an outstanding teacher. I would like to be able to be able to do feathers with such freedom. When Patsy Thompson does them, they just seem to flow out. Mine seem to show signs of forced duress. More practice?

quilterpurpledog, three tips that really helped me were:
1) make the plumes plumper than you want to.
2) stop on the spine and plan out how you are going to arrange your hands to make each plume in one motion so you don't get hesitation marks.
3) plumes are teardrop shaped.

I am going through a lot of paper, practicing before I go to the sewing machine. I can do the curvy ones OK, but am having real trouble with the straight line ones.

Those are some great feathers!

I got so fed up with my horrible feathers that I bought a template set for my ruler foot! But I'd like to learn how to do free-form feathers better - I think I might have to check out her Craftsy class. The templates won't help with the things you mentioned like fitting them into awkward spots on the quilt.

Thanks for the review and the sample, Watson!
