Pattern or instructions help for Ohio Star block

I'd like to know what dimensions to cut the squares to make a 12" Ohio Star block. Any help is appreciated. I think I have it figured out but don't trust myself yet. :o

If you look at Quilter's Cache there is a pattern for 12" Ohio Star. Good luck. BrendaK

Jan, I like this! BTW: I am in Boston at the moment, my daughter has a business conference here and hubby and I joined her. Driving thru the Alleghenies I can envision the area where you must live. Beautiful. :)

Thank you everyone! I like Jan' s version to. Do you ladies think her version with four snowball squares would be faster to make than six half square triangles in a typical Ohio star block?

Also, I must have a star in mind that is not a typical Ohio star. What I picture is the same as what you all sent me, but rather than four snowball blocks it has, I believe, six HST that make up the star points. Does that one have a name?

Hey, thanks, Jan. Your pattern takes the pesky part of the points and makes them easy! YAY!

Rather than cutting the squares into 4 bias cut triangles, I prefer the method that has you sew two squares together down the diagonal in the center, 1/4 inch away from the line, and then nest them and do the same thing on the other diagonal. No bias edges on your QST's.

This is the site that shows how to do this.
