PDF would be my preference.

I personally prefer the paper pattern I can add to my collection in case I no longer wish to use the computer, however, most people can print from their computers so they would have both.

RoxieK 07-24-2010 11:51 AM

PDF I agree with all the above quilters. Love new and exciting patterns I can get at easily. I have a file with folders in it with all my patterns. Thanks!

PDF is so quick. A couple of clicks and it's printing.

JudyM 07-24-2010 01:25 PM

PDF for sure

wvdek 07-24-2010 01:47 PM

PDF

ligia 07-24-2010 02:37 PM

PDF.

When for sale, its less expensive than regular paper patterns.
I have seen many online lately.

AliKat 07-24-2010 03:38 PM

PDF.

Unless it is a the pattern itself is a paper pieced pattern that doesn't fit on 8.5" x 11" paper.

PDF - Instant gratification, cheaper, and I can always print here if I need a hard copy.

Dee Dee 07-24-2010 04:51 PM

butterflyquilter 07-24-2010 06:25 PM

G'ma Kay 07-24-2010 06:31 PM

PDF Please!

annette1952 07-24-2010 07:22 PM

I think you should offer both PDF & paper so it takes care of everyone.

That was my initial assumption, but there is an investment to make up front printing paper patterns - printing on demand is much more expensive. Overwhelmingly, people would prefer PDF files, which would be great as there is no investment other than the time to write up the patterns and the set up of the shopping cart.

Can't live any rural than me, I live in the state forest. I got around the slow dial up. Check out Verizon wireless WiFi modem it runs about $60 per month (unlimited access) but to me it's well worth the cost since I do a lot of stuff on this computer. Also you can run up to 5 computers at once, they have to have your access code to hook up so it's secure to anyone you don't want using it. I plug it in only when one of here at the house want to go online so that's another way you can keep tract of who's on line.

zz-pd 07-24-2010 10:50 PM

Both! God bless.

irenecarter 07-24-2010 11:38 PM

Nothing better than a FREE quilt pattern, that you can download now.

kristen0112 07-24-2010 11:40 PM

PDF

Arleners 07-25-2010 02:05 AM

PDF, but remember this audience is into computers.

mom-6 07-25-2010 04:34 AM

My suggestion would be to have a small run of printed patterns (say 50-100) in addition to your PDF downloadable one. You can do this relatively inexpensively at a local copy center if it is all black and white, or has only one page of color. You are correct that the more you do the cheaper it is per copy, especially if it is over 500 copies which would need to be printed. That is the price break point at our shop for whether to do it on the copier or as a printed job. PM me for more info if you wish.

grandme26 07-25-2010 07:35 AM

PDF it is fast and easy to download

Grammy o'5 07-25-2010 08:54 AM

Definitely PDF! That was I can decide to save it my "Patterns" folder as a "To Do" or print it out myself and get busy on it!

Ragann63 07-25-2010 09:04 AM

PDF absolutely!

Calif Jane 07-25-2010 09:29 AM

Anyone on this board will probably say PDF, but there are a lot of non computer users who are quillters.

butterflywing 07-25-2010 09:30 AM

PDF absolutely

CountryStitching 07-25-2010 09:59 AM

I prefer PDF

Miss Mona 07-25-2010 11:57 AM

I prefer PDF because a lot of patterns are free in the PDF format. But you are selling your pattern. When I get a free pattern I like PDF but when I put money out I want a hard copy.

ladyredhawk 07-25-2010 01:31 PM

PDF always

Dee 07-25-2010 05:26 PM

PDF only.

Annya 07-25-2010 11:57 PM

I would prefer instant down load so I have it if I want to do it right away. you must remember not every one will have computers and those who don't will like to get the patterns in the mail if they cannot buy it over the counter right away.

Annya 07-26-2010 12:03 AM

you could always go the the local library or print shop to enlarge the patterns. A lot of patterns I have gotten from books you do have to enlarge them to the size requested on the pattern.

Annya 07-26-2010 12:07 AM

Calif Jane, I love your quilt. can you please tell me the name of it and where I can perhaps could get the patterns please.

I would start by marketing on the Internet, so the non-computer users who are quilters aren't my initial demographic. :)
