Very Nice! I'll check it out. How did you get the color on the "curve"?

Thank you! The color is machine applique - very, very easy. I wrote a tutorial for it, you can see it here.

If you have any questions, or something isn't clear, email or PM me.

Peckish, that is one gorgeous quilt! Found the tutorial on your blog, which is full of good stuff, I might add!

Thank you! That is very kind of you.

The DP quilt I'm making now has chenille strips around the circles - I can't wait to see how it turns out. And, again, is very, very easy.

That is a beautiful quilt! Love it!!

Cathederal Window is time consuming but if you like to play with the fabric colors it is fun. Love it.

The Disappearing Nine-Patch is a wonderful pattern both for planned fabrics and for scrappy ones. But I'll warn you... it's addicting.

I've not heard of the "disappearing nine patch". Would you share the website for the tutorial?

toriabelle 06-09-2011 11:21 AM

I have been hearing about the "Take Five"pattern. Say it is easy but looks not. Where can I see and /or get it?

Janice Thompson 06-09-2011 11:57 AM

Never heard opf a potato chip quilt. Thanks for posting the site.

sananddandy 06-09-2011 12:05 PM

Warm Wishes is an easy pattern but looks complicated. One of my favorites.

Carpenter's Wheel is really easy. I made one using 9 inch blocks. Fits top of queen size bed. Just need to find the yellow to make it longer.

craftyneedle 06-09-2011 12:23 PM

How do you get an answer to questions you put on here? Is there another link to click on?

craftyneedle 06-09-2011 12:26 PM

What's the potato chip quilt? Never seen that one.

There is a picture of my Quilt of Valor on the bottom of that page!

Oh, Wow! That QOV is wonderful. Thanks for the link to the pattern. Is it really an easy one to make? Looks hard.

Ellen 06-09-2011 12:54 PM

Arkansas Crossroads......Very easy, looks very complicated.
As far as picking out colors, I used a jelly roll and added black.
I need to quilt mine now.

Good luck with whatever you pick to do.

I love that one!

I just tried to print this pattern, and had no problem at all. You might go directly to "quilterscache.com" and search for the pattern, then print it.

LaurieLibra 06-09-2011 01:51 PM

The twister pattern is fun and comes in 3 sizes. I found it to be very easy and fun!

This site is such a treasure of historic patterns. There are Civil War blocks, Pioneer, etc and the history with each. My collection of Bible quilt blocks has just grown tremendously. Thanks! Ann in TN

Yes, I agree that the D9P is greeat for that. Mix up the fabrics, and it can look VERY complicated, but it is sooo simple!!

I've used Warm Wishes a lot. With a good color combination, it is beautiful and can look quite complicated. Google it......

janjer 06-09-2011 02:53 PM

just looked up the churn dash and stars on maryquilts.com, that is neat, i think i might try that one.
i tried an 18 block sample of the cathredal window, wow, it takes lots of fabric for the background. it goes fast if you do it by machine and not by hand. i was doing a class so we had to try it both ways.

ScrappyKathy 06-09-2011 03:02 PM

Love the carpenter's wheel pattern VaNella, TFS, can't wait to start one.

Anything Eleanor Burns is always going to go together easy. D9P and log cabins are always fun because you can turn the blocks around to get a lot of different looks from the same set of blocks. The carpenters wheels was super easy. And I am currently obsessed with OBW and stack&whack quilts - the fabric does most of the work!!My 6 year old is making a 4 patch posy, she sewed all 30 of her kalidascope squares in a day.

Pat G 06-09-2011 04:21 PM

The more I got into quilting, the more I learned that when you look at a quilt or pattern & break it down into the blocks, the more they make sense & the easier they are.

kathdavis 06-09-2011 04:33 PM

I think the 10-minute quilt block is impressive but only has three seams. Also the Diasappearing 9 Patch is always complex looking.

gemmyfrog 06-09-2011 05:12 PM

The Carpenters Star is very simple, just squares and triangles. Also, for the basic shape is only 8x8 square (64 blocks). You can decide on the size of each block, 3 inch blocks will be 24 in X 24 in square, up to as large as you want. Its very simple, I did the cutting in a 1 to 2 hrs, and the sewing was actually 3 to 4 hours. A real weekend quilt!
I have a couple of websites on my post that gives instructions, and another one to help with the lay-out. It made it very simple.

If I want to make a Carpenter's Wheel laptop sized quilt, with just one 'wheel', how big should I make each block?
