Pattern for 'Under The Texas Star' anyone?
 

I saved the picture of the Under The Texas Star quilt on my 'puter but do not have the pattern. Anyone know if it is a free pattern? I've done some googling but cannot find it, thinking it maybe was on here.

can you post the picture here? Usually if we can see a picture , its easier. Did you google images? You might find the site where you saw the quilt. It might have pattern info. I would love to see the picture!

Here is a picture of 'Under The Texas Star' This should be easy to make just by looking at it. 4 inch or 6 inch squares?

try looking under 'friendship star". If you look at it like a puzzle, you can see its just half sq triangles and solid blocks. I will keep looking for a pattern for this variation. Its pretty!

The one you want , the stars are intertwined. I can sketch it out, but I am not sure I can explain it! I will keep looking...

I agree with soccertxi...it just looks like friendship stars that merge together. Just chart it out on grid paper. It looks pretty easy. I like the pattern!

I can chart this out for you later, but I have to start the laundry or we will be snowed under! If you want to get started, just count how many half sq triangles there are , how many red blocks, how many black blocks how many white background blocks. It looks like she did just random red/black hst. you could plan them out if you like, but I like this scrappy look.

(I didn't notice the tan in there too!)

Graph paper can be your friend ... look at the picture and draw on the HSTs in the appropriate blocks.
And then get out your colouring pencils or crayons or highlighters to note the colours.

Two things very valuable in a quilters basic supplies ... graph paper and coloured pencils/pens!

I hate to go on vacation without them! I'm like a little child. I even made a set for traveling! I used graph paper pads instead of regular paper. Here is the link:

I think the colored pencils she shows are great for traveling too. You just screw them up like a mechanical pencil. No breaking. I'm SUCH a little kid at heart!

I plan on making this for one of my gr-grandsons who is 3, I have several different western fabrics to choose from. I'm wondering if a 4' block will be too small for the prints that are a little larger. Would a 6" block work? Maybe 5" would be just right.
