Hello all. I met a very nice older gentleman who lost his wife and is looking to sell her sewing machine, a Pfaff Hobbymatic 927. I can't find anything about this machine on the internet, and I'm hoping someone out there can tell me if it's a well made machine (for classes, not for regular use), how much it weighs, and what a fair price would be to offfer him. I haven't seen the machine, but he says it wasn't used much. Any input would be helpful. Thanks!

try Ebay and see if there are any for sale - might at least give you a price line. And if that doesn't help, call a Pfaff dealer and ask questions. I am sure if they think they are going to get your business, they will answer you

He may have gotten the model # wrong. There was a whole line of Pfaff Hobbymatics so you can probably get a good idea of what the machine is like from other models in the 800 & 900 range. It looks to me as if it may be what is considered a vintage machine. In that case you can get more info by joining a vintage Pfaff group on Yahoo. I checked Youtube, but could find only this short video of a Pfaff Hobbymatic sewing:

I have a Pfaff Hobbymatic 919. It is a pretty basic machine with several different stitches -- those frequently used in sewing clothes. Of course it straight stitches, zig zag, buttonhole, stretch stitches. It does not have any quilting stitches, nor does it have the IDT. Having said all that, it is a very well made workhorse of a machine, made in Germany. The first two quilts I made were made using that machine. I don't remember exactly what I paid for it, but I think it was around $600 or so. That would have been in the late 80's-early 90's. To find out a value for one now, you might try calling a Pfaff dealer.

According to what I was able to gather from my internet search, the Pfaff Hobbymatic 927 is part of the Hobbymatic series, which includes the 917, 927 and 947. I was able to see a picture of a 917 and it appears to have been made in maybe the 90's. So it is roughly 15-20 years old. Pfaff's are very nice machines and were well made. It may be fairly heavy. Provided the machine works and has all the features you are looking for, it might be worth $100 or more. It may have cost as much as $500 new.

Looks like a nice machine, but I don't have enough familiarity with Pfaff to know if it has the IDT. Maybe someone else can look at the photos and tell.

Likewise, a Pfaff Hobbymatic 917 sold for $51 + $28 shipping in February on eBay.

927 has no IDT (built in walking foot). It is a good basic machine and not much can go wrong with it. It depends on how much it has been used and what condition it is in.

Personally, if it works, I would grab it. You can't go wrong with the older Pfaff's - they were all metal, made in Germany and work horses. Price wise, don't know what to suggest. Maybe between $50 - $75. Maybe someone else knows more about its worth than I do. I have 3 Pfaffs and wouldn't trade them. They will probably last longer than me. LOL

I don't think the 927 is one of the older, all-metal vintage machines. It looks like a newer plastic machine.
