Pfaffs are great when in working order. Just be sure that there is a Pfaff dealer, or a dealer who handles Pfaffs, near you. If not, it is very hard to get one repaired. I have a 7550 bought new that has not has hard use and the board went out renderign it unusable. If the dealer near you is not interested in Pfaff machine repairs - woo.
Pfaff or the company who purchased them stopped making the boards for the 7550 and I am sure some others and you have to find someone who can rework the board. Good luck. missbelle

I had a Pfaff 1222, bought new in 1977 (I think). It was the top of the line then (paid $500, can you believe it?). I used it til 2009 and my DD is now using it. I don't think you can go wrong with a Pfaff. Only a few minor problems in all those yrs.

I bought a pfaff 1475 15 years ago, fantastic, still use it every day, My daughter loved it so much, I recently went out and got her a refurbished pfaff 1475, built in walking foot with 1/4" foot,no bulk - is the best way to sew. Everything is perfect.

I have a preowned Pfaff -- I absolutely LOVE IT !!! If you have the opportunity to get one at a good price, do NOT pass it by! It has given me nothing but JOY -- no problems.

I've just upgraded from Pfaff QuiltSytle to Expression 4 and I just love it. I've never had any problems with Pfaff machines although a computerised one does take a bit getting used to.

I have a 75/70 and 2140/2170. Got my first one in 2000. Wouldn't take anything for them.

I have the 2134 - don't hear much about these, I don't think too many were made. I love it, and will never make another quilt without a Pfaff machine with the IDT (integrated dual feed) - it takes the two layers of fabric evenly over feed dogs without one layer feeding faster than the other. Corners finally meet!!

However I should warn you that having an embroidery machine will give you a new addiction. In the three years that I have had mine, I have used it almost to the exclusion of quilting until just recently. And to the quilt fabric stash now has to be added every shade of thread, every type of stabilizer, and designs, designs and more designs (my worst addiction at the moment).

My friend has a Pfaff and loves it....but she has the last model that was manufactured in Germany. She said she wasn't impressed with the newer models.
