I have a 20 year old 1473 and this spring got the QE 4.0. I love the 4.0--just had to get used to not having the pressure foot lifter! I have no regrets at all about mine, it sews everything I have thrown at it, multiple layers and all.

I have had a Pfaff Expression 2 for a year and a half. I love it. I did have a minor problem with the thread sliding off of the take up lever, but my dealer fixed that right up. I had my machine back the next day.

I have an older Pfaff that I was able to purchase used for a few hundred dollars. It has helped me through some heavy duty sewing projects and seems to hold up well.

Love my Exp 3.0. Not many complaints about them. Would love the low-bobbin warning and the presser foot knee lift, but after reading about probs, I'm happy with my 3.0

I have the CV and love it. It replaced my 1471 which ahd sewed at least a million miles! I've had no trouble from either of these 2. I also have a Janome gem platinum. I needed something that didn't weigh as much as I do! It's a great little machine, and easy to move around to classes and to travel in the motorhome. I love the Pfaff better, and I miss the bells and whistles, but mostly the IDT. The even feed foot on the Janome is so bulky and hard to get a 1/4 in. seam with.

Hi Hattie, I just bought the pfaff 4.0 on Saturday and am waiting for it to come in as my local quilt shop had to order it. And I have heard good and bad reviews on this particular model, but the owner of the shop told me that all of those "tension" problems have been ironed out and she has had absolutely no problems with the new ones. Talked to a person in the shop that day that bought one 3 months ago and she also has had no problems and loves her machine. I am hoping all goes well with my new purchase as it looks like an awesome machine.

If you have a babylock dealer close, I recommend them way more user friendly and I never have had any problems with my espire

I have the select 3 and love mine, although it is more fussy about the thread it uses than my Husqvarna Designer 1 but FMQ is easy and even with it and I love the IDT...making piecing a breeze

Hattie, if you've not liked the last 2 Pfaff machines you've owned why would you buy a third?

thanks to all who responed...It's not really the money, although that is always a factor, but it's the aggravation and frustration when a machine does not behave as expected.
