i just did one and used different widths on my Parisian Green D9p quilt. I liked it better...less of a hassle to make sure everything was accurate and even :)

I've done a couple of quilts with piano key borders. One was an Easy Breezy which has a large piece of material in the middle, border, then piano keys. Used different sizes on that one. The other has a small border then piano keys all the same width from the various reds in the top. Its really just a matter of taste and what you think looks best.

Vary it. Go on, be a devil.

they can be any size you want them to be!
i've seen border strips put together many different ways, the one that sticks out in my mind the most is one i saw that the strips were anywhere from 1/2" up to 2 1/2"...it was way cool! |
I prefer them to be the same size BUT it is your quilt and you can make them how you like them.
