Probably because it took so long to hand quilt them! Or if they were using their DSM, it was really difficult to more those huge quilts around through that little harp! We have the option of using a long arm and that really makes a difference!

I like both. I use to take all my quilts to a quilter and finally decided i wanted to do them myself. Purchased a Longarm and just love it. I will usually make 4 or 5 tops and then start quilting them. Very satisfying to know I did it all myself.

I just love quilting in general when I have the time.

I love the whole process. even cutting, but it causes me a great deal of pain to do. God bless. Penny

I am definitely a piecer. I have 5 quilt tops done, one for my dad I did for fathers day, just need to get the back ready and send to the quilter, and 4 baby quilt tops done, 2 for Downey Quilts for Kids, and 2 for babies that are already here! I really think it is a mind block that I have, because the one for Dad just needs to go to the quilter, I don't even have to do anything.....

I too am much better at cutting and piecing my tops. They usually sit here for months(or years) (unless it is a gift that has to get out) before it gets quilted!!!

I like to complete mine as I go... I domestic machine quilt, so it is cumbersome. I have started to do large blocks and then quilt the blocks leaving excess batting and then using sashing to connect... it is much easier and seems to come out fine...

Love the cutting out and piecing but I don't like the quilting. Usually send it out to a long arm quilter. But then it takes me quite awhile to get to the binding because that is the one I don't like at all.
