I enlarged the picture of the motorcycle on the copier at work, then just used that for a pattern.
Cut it out - then glue basted it down. I debated between satin stitching the edges vs invisible machine applique ...decided on satin stitching. Just finished that step a few minutes ago. Now to do the name/letter appliques. =)

Day 1 progress...but IMO, this will be the easiest part.
Now on to those crazy pieced borders - another day!

Fantastic job with that!--all the curves and all. My family would enjoy this. And your background fabric is Perfect!

That might work if the pieces start out as squares, but these are not 90º angles. I would do the templates as quiltedsunshine suggests. Start with the dark blue, add the black and then sew to the large blue triangles. the corner pieces may just be cut in half, but you may need to add seam allowances. The templates would be of a size to fill in the space allotted.
