Does anyone every make pillow cases/ shams to match their quilts. I always have but I wondered if anyone else does.
Yep. I just finished a couple this week. The whole bed has to match, right? And a portion of the window treatments as well... ;)
I always do. In fact, I make the shams as soon as I have the top done. It encourages me to get the whole quilt finished quicker.
No, not usually. I have for my daughters and will for the quilt I am going to make for my bed but not with the many quilts I give away!
not usually but i did make one for Dh to go with the hunting quilt i made for him. He stuffs the quilt in the pillowcase when he takes it to hunting camp with him
yes I make shams and window treatment .
No, I don't. I'm not really into matching things.
I do make the pillowcases or shams for myself...not the give away quilts nor the charity ones.pab
I have made some but not all my quilts come with pillow cases.
I do all the time. Not really interested in matching. Just in love with pillowcases.
I often make pillow cases, they don't really have to match, but they look good on the bed, besides, pillow cases are a great way to present a quilt gift to someone, and it encourages the recipient to store thir gift safely
The quilt I made for my bed has matching pillow cases and curtains.
i always make pillow case and put my finished top backing and binding in it to store together until quilted
Sometimes a pillow case but not always, if it's a bed quilt then yes, lap quilts rarely.
Yes. I think it adds so much for the effect on the room.
I do it all the time. It's great to have matching pillowcases but I also use one as the gift bag whan I give a quilt away (I refuse to waste money on wrapping paper). The other great thing about a matching pillowcase is when you store them, you can see immediately what quilt is on the shelf just be glancing at the pillowcase because I use the matching pillowcase as the storage bag for my quilt. No dumping out cloth bags just to see what quilt is in there. Matching pillowcases also mean that you have material to patch your quilt if a repair is ever necessary.
I like to make matching pillowcases. They are quick and easy and give the quilt that finished look. I have made shams- to time consumming.

I do, I like it when they all match up.
Well I posted a picture of my Christmas yo yo quilt and made it long enough to fold and tuck under the pillows. Got me to thinking- why don't I cut a few rows off and make pillow shams. So that's what I did, haven't got them sewn yet but I will before I put the quilt away for another year.

I like to especially if the quilt is a gift. Then I also use the pillow case as a gift bag! :P

Great idea! I had never thought of that! A money saver! :P

I made pillow cases instead of shams (to use as shams) and valances to match our quilts. However I do have enough material left over to make shams..just havent decided if I want shams or dresser toppers. Also made valance for our adjoining bathroom.

Yes, I just finished two sets yesterday to go with the quilts I made my grandchildren for Christmas. Instead of wrapping them I just put them in the quilt and tied a bow around them. I made the ribbon out of the long scraps from them also.
I'm making some for the tulip quilt I just finished. They will be my first ones, but not be design. It's just the first time I've thought I wanted them.

I just make a pillow cover. Just make your bed and throw cover over pillows. Quick and easy.

No, not unless they are intended as bedspreads.
I usually do but not always. Depends on who the quilt is for. If it's for a child I usually make pillowcases. For adults I make matching shams.
not so much the shams, but usually a smaller throw type pillow or two for the bed or sofa the quilt is going to be on.
Does anybody have a neat pattern for shams? I have been thinking of dabbling with them for my grand-daughters.
Thank you. Mary @-->- |
