Try youtube ... I don't have the link, though have watched the video.

Here is a link for the 1 million pillow case drive. They have several different designs and the patterns are there free. Hope this helps you all. They are so quick to whip up. I made the roll it up one for my grandson and he loves it!!

Check out http://tutorials.missouriquiltco.com/
Look at their tutorial for pillowcases. It is easy and Jenny does a great job explaining it. |
I think the missouriquilting one is easier for children than the allpeoplequilt. The french seams on the latter were hard for the child I had coached making one. He had to follow the directions alone. I ended up printing the allpeople one and crossing out the parts that didn't apply. I did like having step by step in print. Do a search here or on Google for taco pillowcase or burrito pillowcase.

Go on the Missouri Star Quilts website, they have a VERY easy pattern. The main part is 27," the top band is 9," and a decorative band 3." All cut width of fabric.

You can find pillow case patterns at Allpeoplequilt.com under the million pillow case challenge. There's several tp download in PDF format. They're easy to make.

Yes, I think this is the best one. Of course, I just love the Missouri Quilt Co for their tutorials and also for their fabric.

Thanks for the links, these are great :-D

Too late for me to add any links...they're already here! I've made many pillowcases and enjoy it. The recipients have mostly been duly appreciative too. It's a great way to personalize pillows...especially for camp! I made my son a matching pillowcase and laundry bag and then took a strip of the same fabric and sewed it to his towel and wash cloth. There was no question which ones were his!

I'll have to remember this as the grandkids get older. Good idea for slumber parties too!! |
Made a ton of the MissouriQuilt one last year out of flannel for Christmas presents. I "wrapped" a quilt in one. SEW EASY!!!!
|
I' have made tow dozen & sent them to tornado victims in Miss. & Alabama. The recipients can use them to carry stuff in, or stuff clothes into them to make a pillow. Pillow cases are very useful.

if you google or bing hotdog pillowcase pattern
It will give you several sites for this fun method of making pillowcases. We make up kits at the shop and sell them.... I just LOVE picking out 3 fabrics for these pillowcase kits. |
I was going to suggest the All People Quilt website, but someone already did. But I have found that in just about every quilt magazine there seems to be a pattern for a pillowcase. They are easy and fun to make.
|
How did you find a place to send the pillowcases to tornado victims, I'd like to participate as well.
|
Hi Dianemarie.....I haven't seen you on here so i just want to say Hi and enjoy making the pillow case with your special someone.. :-D

Go to any of the sites that have charity profects listed and you will see the different layouts they do and the dimensions they used for pillow case projects for kids undergoing cancer treatment.

My grandaughter and I made several using Twiddletail`s tutorial. Don`t be afraid of the french seam, it`s just a matter of sewing it together with right sides out first and then turning it and encasing the seam with one straight line of stitches. Easy peasy and makes a HUGE difference in the quality of the final product. No raveling edges every time it`s washed. http://twiddletails.blogspot.com/201...llowcases.html

The very best I have found
https://docs.google.com/View?docid=dj4zfcb_3f34fjt]https://docs.google.com/View?docid=dj4zfcb_3f34fjt[/url] This one has the tube and the seam is then covered up. Thanks, Kathy |
This is the site I used to make pillowcases. I watched her video a couple of times and made pillowcases for friends for Christmas. Very clear and easy to understand and very easy to make. This is the link. http://www.overallquilter.com/latest...pillowcases-2/

I make these for my two GS so as to stay in touch with them since they are in FL and I am in NC. They are fun, easy, and fairly quick. I now do the French seams for the finishing edges and they look so professional ... which I am not!!! Have been making them for birthdays, holidays and themed (soccer, Cat in the Hat, etc.) The boys love them. I never can figure out what to make little boys so the tutorial/pattern from Missouri Quilts was a great find for me. Hope you have fun with the 6 year old!

I make them for Quilts of Valor. I use this link:

When you find the easiest, please let me know. I have a grandaughter turning 4 on July 4, & I'd like to make her a pillowcase from granma!!!! Thanks ever so much!!!!

Thank you so much -- her first sewing lesson ! http://extension.usu.edu/files/publi...2006-102pr.pdf Our guild made 40 one night. Each person brought 2 yards of fabric and we sewed assembly-line style for 1-1/2 hours. Three seams, about 15-20 minutes and you're done! We donated them to the local women's shelter. |
