Great idea...I wish it wasn't just a video, a transcript would be nice for me.

good for you Michael!

I just started sewing/quilting this summer. And a friend told me about these, they are super simple to make and soo much fun. I have made a set for each of my kids already and will probably make one to make a quilt I am making for my husbands great uncle. Although, now that the top is together he is telling me I should keep the quilt and not give it away. he is too cute. :) I love it.

Thank for the link, Michael!
Great idea! Some of the quilt group here in my area make pillowcases when doing charity quilts.
Thanks Michael, I love Missouri quilt co's videos, Jenny makes it so much easier.

Why is it better to store a quilt in a fabric pillowcase? Why are they not supposed to be folded? I have a hand sewn, hand quilted signature quilt made in the 1920's that has always been folded when not on a bed ( folded on a shelf probably the since 1950) that doesn't seem to have any damage. I'm keeping it in a plastic tote now since we get the occasional mouse in from the fields.

So I was out looking for a tutorial on HOW to machine a pillowcase and found this tutorial from the Missouri Star Quilt Company on Youtube....and all I can say is.......IT'S GENUS....COMPLETELY GENUS! :) I was kind intimidated because I have only ever made quilt tops, no other sewing under my belt, and the thought of hems and things scare me. This COMPLETELY my seed. You only have to sew along 3 lines and you get a gorgeous pillowcase!!! I know I know....you are thinking I'm posting too many videos as of late. Great video as usual from Missouri Star Quilt Co. Thanks!
I have been making them from left over fabrics to match my quilt top and when I store my quilts I don't have to go through all the quilts looking for a particular one. I know by the pillow case what quilt is in it. Also have a decorative pillow to use on the bed when I use that quilt.
Great! Thanks Michael. Keep posting. I like Missouri Comp. videos. Don't you love all this free stuff on the net?
Thanks, Michael. I have made pillow cases before but didn't know how to hide all the seams. The tube method is great. I will definitely do that next time.
If you make a quilt larger than a twin, do you make 2 pillowcases?

I'm not an expert on this one. I was ALSO told to was them in a a specific detergent that you can get from any Farm Supply store, because it really gentle of your quilt...but the name of that eludes me right now. Hmmm.....this this would be a good thing to talk about and get a tut going for it. :P |

Great tute. It's easy when you see it done.
I love this Michael, thank you for sharing! I've bookmarked this tute and can't wait to try making some for my quilts!
I have been making pillow cases the same way. Pillow cases are like potato chips, you can't make just one. I went thru my closet and cut fabric to make the pillow cases. Made over 1 doz for charity. They are fun!
NEVER APOLOGIZE for something that will be sooooooo helpful to others. Thank you thank you thank you. I love it, have made pillow cases the long way and this is fantastic!!!!!
One year for Christmas I bought each of my 5 children down comforters. Then I bought some holiday material and made a huge pillow case to hold each of the comforters. I gathered the opening together and put a huge ribbon (the wide kind) to tie it. Looked like Santa's Bag............if you know what I mean. My children loved it and they had a storage bag for their comforters. They looked pretty too.
