a pink quilt - ideas please

I've recently decorated a bedroom: the walls are a neutral cream, the furniture wood, cream or white. It needs a splash of colour and I'm using bright pink (think fuchsia, raspberry, magenta) and a touch of green (lime). Of course I want to make a quilt as a focal point. I'm really struggling to find a pattern idea. One problem is that I want to avoid at all costs the lighter, sugary pinks - I want this to be a statement rather than pretty-pretty pink. That makes it difficult to provide different colour values in the quilt. I've thought about doing a 2-colour pink and cream top, but I fear that would be boring to make and might not have the impact I'm looking for. I've also thought about a Kaffe Fassett type approach, using lots of different fabrics with similar colour values - I'm going to play with that idea, but am not confident that I have the eye (or can afford the fabric!) to pull it off. Anyone got any other suggestions, please?

What about a bargello or something like your avatar?

I like the bargello idea. Irish Chain or Log cabin would be a good choice too. One of my favorites (but have not made yet) is a scrappy neutral background with a floral applique. Like this one I found thru Google, only with flowers rather than a tree:

How about doing kind of a magenta to pink gradation like TerryQuiltter's chevron quilt under the title, Newest Quilt for my newest Grandaughter?

I've seen some fabric lines with hot pink and lime green and they're great. Unfortunately, I can't remember the lines or find them online. But I'm sure if you look around you'll find what your looking for. Batiks might be a way to go - they have all sorts of different, fun colors. Good luck! Oh! Have you considered doing solids? That would be fun, too.

Mostly magenta, splash of lime, splash of red and a smudge of orange. Trust me. You haven't said whether you favor tradition or modern design. To suit either I'd do a rail fence, with different width bars of colour. Simple and striking, can't go wrong!

I think a bargello would be perfect, and they are easy and fun to make.

I agree. I think a bargello pattern will take the girlishness out of the pink. Usually for a simple bargello, there are 10 colors from light to dark to pull from your stash or buy.
