Pins - I found this helps

Many of us LOVE Clover ultra thin pins. I do. I realized they were a bit hard to pick up. The ends are so small. I had some beads and used E6000 glue. It did not take away from the useful length of the pins. It took a little time but I love how easy they are to handle now. Luckily I have never pressed over pins, so these plastic beads have not been a problem for me. PS: Happy Valentine's Day to all.

DOTTYMO 02-12-2014 06:05 AM

What a good idea. My problem with pins is how they disappear.

Jeanne S 02-12-2014 06:13 AM

So cute!!!! (and practical too....)

Quiltngolfer 02-12-2014 06:15 AM

They are darling pins! I've never seen anything like that. I bet you could sell them as fast as you make them. Nice job.

Jackie Spencer 02-12-2014 07:05 AM

Those would look beautiful in vintage pin cushions. I know they are to be used, but I love the look of them too!!

faykilgore 02-12-2014 07:22 AM

Beautiful! Also practical. Win-win

nativetexan 02-12-2014 07:53 AM

That is a great idea. my fingers don't grab pins well anymore as it is.

pocoellie 02-12-2014 08:14 AM

What a GREAT idea. Thanks for sharing.

quiltstringz 02-12-2014 08:19 AM

That is a great idea - not sure I would do it for myself but thinking that doing some for holiday gifts for quilting pals. Wait a minute I might as well do some for me too. What a great way to take some pins to a retreat or sewing day and knowing which are yours! Of course that would only last for one time, as everyone will go home and make some. Thanks for sharing

ManiacQuilter2 02-12-2014 10:15 AM

I have the same pins and they are so hard to spot on the floor but you are suppose to be able to iron over then since they are glass. CLEVER !!!

sweetpea 02-12-2014 10:43 AM

Love the pins. I to have some with to small heads. and I have a bag of beads for a someday project. It looks like I have my some day project. Thanks I'm think that this would be great for my mom, think I will make some for her Christmas. Thanks again.

luvTooQuilt 02-12-2014 10:48 AM

LOVE LOVE LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE the idea... and i suppose if anyone wants to get real fancy schmancy you can use glass beads too- just in case your like me and get too close to the iron..

kydeb 02-12-2014 11:01 AM

I love your pins!! They are a great gift idea for the quilter who has everything!! Don't you just love E6000 glue? It is THE best!!

vondae 02-12-2014 01:30 PM

This is what I need to do. Now that I'm getting a little arthritis I am finding it harder & harder to pick up the pins. Thanks for sharing your idea and your cute pins.

lynnie 02-12-2014 02:05 PM

They look pretty that way. A lot of us in the pincushion swap make decorative pins to swap too.

franc36 02-12-2014 03:38 PM

I love your pins with the beads! Those are my favorite pins; but I lose so many of them. I probably lose them because of the small heads. I should use your idea.

joyce888 02-12-2014 04:00 PM

Gorgeous! Those would make a great gift.

beaglelady 02-12-2014 05:53 PM

Those are lovely pins. Great idea!

AngelinaMaria 02-12-2014 06:49 PM

What a great idea!!! I have found myself struggling more and more to grasp the pins from my magnetized pin dish. This would certainly help a bit.

jcrow 02-12-2014 07:10 PM

What kind of beads are they? Can you get them at Wally's World? I live in a small community and we only have Walmart for shopping. I would love to do that with my pins. You have a wonderful idea! Yes, you could make them and sell them and pay for fabric. I would buy them.

Deb53 02-13-2014 03:15 AM

What kind of beads you ask - - Beads are a hot item now and I'm sure you could find something you liked anywhere. Just glance at the hole so that it'll fit. Clover pins are very thin. I have such a stash of buttons and beads that grew through the years, I already had something that worked.

And they are so cute! I have a box of pins with nice yellow ball heads that are really easy to pick up, but all my pins must be closed in a box - Dave the cat thinks they are something for him to play with and I am tired of picking them off the floor! Love your cute pins.

nunnyJo 02-13-2014 04:01 AM

great idea

judylg 02-13-2014 04:36 AM

Someone mentioned they would look nice in a pin cushion, I agree. Pretty for sure, even if I never used them! Thanks for sharing this idea.

lovelyl 02-13-2014 04:42 AM

Thank you so much for this idea! Those are my favorite pins but getting arthritis in my hands and have so much trouble picking them up. Next trip to town, beads are on my list! Never heard of E6000 glue. Where can you get it? What is special about it? Thanks!

daisydebby 02-13-2014 05:18 AM

What a great idea:):) Am loving it and just put beads on my list!! THANKS so much.

zennia 02-13-2014 05:20 AM

I love this idea..pretty and practical all in one. The heart beads look so festive for Valentines Day! I will be on the look out for pretty beads now. You are one smart lady! Thanks for sharing your wonderful idea!

See you at the next guild meeting ole pal of mine.

MargeD 02-13-2014 08:19 AM

What a unique idea and besides being able to find your pins they will look pretty in a unique pin cushion.

Deb53 02-13-2014 08:39 AM

Doing this project I put a little puddle of glue on a paper plate and used toothpicks to dab the glue on the pin. First I put glue on the pin just under the glass ball and pushed the bead on it. When that was partially dry, I put a dab of glue on the pin just under the new bead for good measure (I was anxious to continue the project).

I've heard crafters use E6000 glue. It comes in a silver tube. It seems to work well. I bought mine at Hobby Lobby. I'm sure Michael's and other stores have it. Don't forget your 40% off coupon.

michelleoc 02-13-2014 08:47 AM

What a terrific idea. You should market/sell those. They are just beautiful.

mighty 02-13-2014 08:49 AM

I think that the monster who eats socks in the dryer likes pins as appetizers. Mine seem to always disappear:D

oldtisme 02-13-2014 02:04 PM

Great idea! To be honest while sewing last night I had 5, yes 5 heads come off pins when I pulled them out! This would give me something to grab onto and make it easier to grab from my magnet bowl too. Thanks.

terri bb 02-13-2014 03:39 PM

oh i love this idea! thank you!
