Pizza boxes to store quilt blocks.
 

I stopped by a local pizza place to pick up a few clean boxes to hold some big quilt blocks. I haven't gotten any in a few years The guy said they were $4 each. That seems expensive for a pizza box. I went to another local pizza place and they were $3. I went to a chain pizza store, they were free but limit of one. I stopped at Walmart and got the super size pizza boxes for free. I got 3. These should last me another few years. Thank you Walmart! Of course I had to buy a rotisserie chicken there, fresh off the cooker. That aroma does me in every time. LOL

Thanks for reminding me. I've got some leftover cold rotisserie chicken in the fridge. A leg and a thigh would make a good midnight snack.

If you have a Gordon Food Service store they sell them there for cheap. I bought a bunch a long time ago to mail scrapbook paper in.

I got mine by buying the bake it yourself pizza. They are clean and supper is taken care of so I can sew.

I use to use pizza boxes too. But I like seeing thru clear plastic so I switched to paper crafting boxes.

That's a good idea! I've been wondering how to get organized with blocks. Do these boxes come in different sizes? Any recommendations for which to buy to have a few on hand?

I got the same clear containers on sale for $3.99 at Michael's couple weeks ago. I put a label on the front so I know what's in them even though they are clear. I have names on the labels so I know whose project. Has the patterns and notes and swatches and sample blocks.

Got mine at michaels too, but they have wild colors.....love it.....but I noticed they really have that petroleum smell....wonder if a dryer sheet tucked into box will eliminate that? Anyone know something else......

I hang on to the clear plastic containers from salad greens. I use them to organize my scraps They also stack nicely on my storage unit.

I don't store the blocks in the pizza boxes, I use them for transport. I have a lot of block exchanges at my sew groups.

Lucky you to be able to even BUY them. The pizza places around me wont' sell. I switched to Iris scrapbooking boxes with a flip top lid. I get them at Micheals when they are on sale for around $4. I have quit buying them as the more I buy, the more UFOs I make!

I also use the paper crafting plastic boxes - the shallow ones - and also,use the deeper ones with handles for carrying, etc. wait for coupons at Michael's and JoAnn's for a good price or when they go,on sale for 50% or even more. Apparently I have now turned into a container-aholic - love them! The Container Store has fabulous ones of all sizes but can get pricey unless on sale. That store sends me into shivers of excitement!!! Good thing it's way down in Charlotte about 40 miles or so away.

The closest one to me is across Phoenix in Scottsdale...but I heard wonderful terrifying news! They are opening a new one RIGHT down the street from my church! Oh my DH does not know what trouble he is in ! I love that place so much, I might apply for a job! I think it is a toss up whether I love quilt shops or The Container Store more!!

I think I might have been tempted to buy not only the rotissier chicken, but a large pizza as well.

Walmart has boxes?

I use the clear salad containers, too. They are sturdy enough to stack on each other and they and keep my scraps organized. A great way to repurpose those lovely containers!

The SuperCenter here makes and sells fresh pizza uncooked so has all size boxes, just like a pizza house. I have gotten the empty frosting buckets there too. These are food grade storage buckets.

I started with pizza boxes, then went to the Iris brand boxes at the Container store. However, all I buy now (if I didn't have so many now :)) are the ArtBin single or double boxes. I can get a small project in a single and a king size in the double. I always bought them on the 50% off plastic, everyday, or scrapbooking sales (one is coming this weekend) at Jo Anns. They cost more, but they stack well and have sturdier handles.

My local pizza shop was kind enough to sell me boxes for 50 cents each for a church project. That was some time ago and prices have increased since then. I've been in business and know how expensive paper products are so I wouldn't expect them for free.
