I buy craft felt by the yard. Cheap, easy to use, washes good.

The saleslady at one of my LQS's recommended using Insulbrite, which makes sense to me if I am really going to be putting hot items on the mats.

I think the warm and natural is nice for place mats and table toppers.

Depends on where it is going to be used. I like InsulBrite if it is going to be used on my antique table --the product works to keep the heat on the top side if the hot dish is placed there, If it is for someone with a melmaline or formica tabletop I use the thin battings either the Warm and Natural or thermolam or some such.

Thanks everyone. I've never used insulbrite..is there a right and wrong side to it? Is there a certain side that should be 'up', or doesn't it matter?

Thanks
