Plastic Storage Boxes for 12 1/2 " squares
 

Has anyone found flat boxes that hold our BOMs? The ones at Michaels are just a little too small!
I would like clear plastic, not too deep, at least 13" square. TY

Look at the flat scrapbooking boxes at joanns. they are about 13" square and about 4" deep. I bought several last year when they were 50% off. I store my project's blocks in them.

Walmart has them.

I got some at our Walmart last year that were on clearance - wish I had gotten more - think they were by Sterilite

I think what you may be looking for are the ArtBin Super Satchel Single Compartment boxes at Joanns. They are about 13.99 but quite often have them on sale.

I use these Iris Storage Boxes, found in the scrapbooking section at Hobby Lobby and Michael's. Usually the ones at HL are clear and the ones at M's are colorful. I use coupons from the newspaper ads and pick up one a week or so. They hold 12" blocks very nicely.

I love the ones from JoAnn's. They are about 14 x 14 x 4. The 40% off 13.99 (more for colors) makes them affordable at $8.40. They are big enough to hold all the fabric (except backing & sometimes that too) for a complete lap project & the finished blocks. Great for travel because of the handles. The fabric & blocks do slide to the end if you hold by the handle. They, also, stack very nicely. I haven't tried the ones from Michael's or Hobby Lobby so can't comment on them. Wal Mart has some good ones, but most don't have handles, or are too deep. I have used some of the shallow ones for holding the project, but move to the JoAnn boxes when I start sewing.

These are the ones I use...I like them because they have handles. Use a coupon!

The ArtBin Super Satchels are what I use for holding up to 12 inch blocks. I actually prefer them to the Iris brand, since they have a nice handle and better latches. I usually buy them at JoAnns when they have the 1/2 off storage sale. They also stack better than the Iris brand.

They have 3 depths: a really shallow one (Slim), the regular one (3 1/2"), and the "Double Deep" (6 1/2"). I use the regular one and the "Double Deep," especially love Double Deep for holding a whole project (blocks, backing, and pattern).

Maybe a little bigger than you are looking for. Love that I can easily take the cover off, and different sizes of them stack very well. I use these as storage bins for fabric, but they would work well for block storage too. Our local Walmart has them displayed with the other storage bins.

I love the ones from Joann's. They stack, travel and are overall just great. I have them in lots of colors. Makes my sewing room colorful and sometimes I can even remember what color has which project! I think you will love them.

I purchased this set from Joann's with a 50% off coupon. And I have a few extra cases. I store my WIPS that are currently being worked in these. They hold pretty much a whole project. I love them. Definitely hold out for coupons.

I have found that pizza boxes (new) work well for quilt blocks. I purchase them from local pizza place. I also use them for my templates which helps keep them flat. They have the small, med., and large boxes and I am sure cheaper than other plastic boxes and they stack very well on top of my cabinets. Mary

Just want to point out that many of the other links were for packs of 6.

I have about a dozen ArtBin sachels. They hold a lot and stack. My JoAnn's sells them for $18.00 and I've even seen them for $23.00. I got some at Michaels for $8.99, but they didn't have any handles. Use your coupon and get them at JoAnn's.

These are great. I store my layer cakes, blocks and "projects in waiting" in these. They are not as sturdy as the Art Bin brand but they are very good and CLEAR. I get mine when I have a 50% at Joann and they are not on sale.

I got a few last year at a yard sale. I think she got them at Michael's, not sure, but she's a scrapper and used them for her cards etc.

Of course, there's always the pizza box. Whole lot cheaper, most places give them to you. If you have several pizza joints where you live you can get quite a few by stopping in each place. (I'm cheap) :)

tubing come in. about 3-4" deep. free. cover them in contact paper. label front.

there are see through pizza boxes out there?? wow i havent ordered take out pizza in a while because the boxes i remember are opaque white thick corrugated cardboard which you cant see through.

yep the walmart totes do seem a better price deal for the 6 pack. of course if i could see the stuff i have hidden away in large totes now, life would be so much easier.:) but why would i want to spoil the good thing i have right now rifling through each container to find the fabric i just "know" that i have somewhere, getting tired half way through looking and then giving up my search? at least my way i get to rediscover "new" fabrics each time i look that i cannot remember purchasing.:D

Sure, see thru would be ideal ... but who cares when the price is right?

Instead of see thru, you can easily label the edge of the box as to what's inside.
The nice thing is that you can stack them nice and high, and easily read what's in each, then pull out the one you want.

I've covered pizza boxes with contact plastic ... makes it prettier!!! I keep several in different sizes ready and waiting to be used.

you want the ones from Art bin that are 14" with handles! The cheaper ones at hobby lobby for scrapbooking don't have handles OR secure latches

I saw some of the boxes at Dollar General today!! They have never had them before. My thought was "what can I do with these??" A senior moment and I was in a hurry so didn't price them. But I'll go back and look. These were the clear/opaque ones.

I also love the boxes from Joann's. The price has gone up since I first bought them so I'm glad I bought a lot when I did. At last count I had 27 of them and most are full of projects.

Check in the Scrapbooking section of Michaels, Hobby Lobby, or JoAnns. Also, I have found some of the plastic drawers on wheels at WalMart or Big Lots has the right size and you can color sort with those. I bought one with 9 drawers and it works great. Just carry a tape measure with you to make sure the inside measurement is big enough. Most will hold 12" but not 12/5".

I get all of my plastic boxes at the Dollar Tree. For 1$.They are shoe boxes and clear.Size 12" long 5 high"

Hi, I get new boxes from my local pizza shop. Very nominal fee. Think last one way $0.25. Work great.

If you don't need plastic, try a new pizza box which are sold ipacks of 20 at Gordon Food Services. This would be a place that church food kitchens or caterers shop, bulk food and items.
