Here are the choices. To be honest I do not like any of them. I may have to go a different route. The background block is what you see. I just have the black so that you can see better. I am planning on putting sashing between the blocks and using christmas green for the backing and binding. I am just not happy with with it so far. I am wanting something that is elegant and pops. I haven't even decided on the color of the sashing yet.

bibliostone 10-08-2011 06:09 AM

I like the center one (with the red).

sewmary 10-08-2011 06:10 AM

Of the three I like the gold the best. It pops more and I think it has the elegance you are looking for.

suebee 10-08-2011 06:10 AM

I like the first one best. It has more contrast.

sahm4605 10-08-2011 06:10 AM

I love the gold one. it sets the plate off really really well to me.

babyfireo4 10-08-2011 06:11 AM

I like the second one best of the three. You might try your choices againg what you plan to use as sashing to get a better idea of the finished look. It's amazes me how much of a difference that can make! :) Looking great, I hope you post a finished product.

Of the 4 shown...the red is best.

quilter68 10-08-2011 06:13 AM

Red!

amandasgramma 10-08-2011 06:13 AM

Do you have any green???????? If not, then I vote for the red.

ontheriver 10-08-2011 06:14 AM

I think the red is best

QuiltnNan 10-08-2011 06:14 AM

I thought about the green. I do not have the right shade though. I may have to take to my favorite quilt shop and have Barbara help me with the fabric. I am thinking about green for the sashing since that is the color of the backing and binding. I may see what that green looks like.

lovelyl 10-08-2011 06:16 AM

Gold! It would also be nice if the gold had some metallic threads in it!

I did think about that. However finding that fabric is not easy. It seems that the fabric shops do not carry a big variety any longer.

dinlauren 10-08-2011 06:20 AM

I personally like the red center. I think it gives the elegance that you are looking for. The gold and white stand out too much....IMHO

sueisallaboutquilts 10-08-2011 06:20 AM

This is a hard one for me to vote on. Sounds like you need to check out more fabrics, not b/c yours aren't pretty but b/c of what you said.
I like the gold so far. Love your blocks! :D

SharBear 10-08-2011 06:21 AM

I agree -- GREEN - a marbled that would go with the darker shade that is in one of your prints.

If not, the red.

wraez 10-08-2011 06:23 AM

I like the gold best, the rest seem to disappear IMHO

wraez 10-08-2011 06:23 AM

OH, except the white is too stark, it definitely doesn't disappear.

QuiltE 10-08-2011 06:25 AM

Your Christmas Dresden is lovely!!

The gold is too strong of a colour as you don't see any of that colour in the plate. When I first saw it, my eye went totally to the centre circle, and missed the beauty of the plate itself. The next two blend nicely with the plate, and of the two, my preference would be the red, as the large paisley is lost on the centre, being that it's so large. Though, I do wonder about the green? The white gives you a fresh and a Christmas wreath look, though it almost seems to stark to the rest of the fabrics used.

Are you locked on the white background?
What about the gold background? and let it self centre with the gold? Then IMHO the whole runner would be very rich. (Although if you happen to be putting it on a golden oak table, I wouldn't go there ... eewwwww!!!)

And too, as already mentioned, you'd be best to mock that up now while doing the centre, as that could have a big impact on the finished look of the centre.

It's beautiful and whichever way you finish it up, it's one you are going to enjoy every year you bring it out. Take the time now, and you won't regret it.

1st choice is #2

Maybe you could quilt a design in the gold center using metallic thread?

Xstitshmom 10-08-2011 06:33 AM

I like the second one.

lynnsim 10-08-2011 06:34 AM

I like the gold the best. However, it looks like there is a creme in the plate? have you considered creme instead of white?

Tweety2911 10-08-2011 06:39 AM

Red

AliKat 10-08-2011 06:41 AM

I would want to know where it is going. By that I mean the color scheme of the room and accessories [chair covers, drapes/curtains/blinds, rug and more], and even the dishes you are going to use.

I love them all. Yes, the second red speaks to me more. but I'm not you. Again, if you are going to put a centerpiece on this then I might just change my vote.

Personal choice is just that.

ali

winia 10-08-2011 06:46 AM

The red one.

Deborahlees 10-08-2011 06:47 AM

i like the RED, the best.....seems to 'belong' more....and the others just look like they are visiting.....

Try a black center. I know it sounds odd but I use black a lot and it really makes the other colors jump out. Just a humble opinion!

alikat110 10-08-2011 08:06 AM

go for the GOLD!!!!

leiladylei54 10-08-2011 08:10 AM

I like the second photo...red poinsettia the best.

DebLuvsQuiltng 10-08-2011 08:11 AM

I like the red. Since it matches some of the sections, it seems to add dimension, like the blocks are lifting, pulling toward you.

sweetpea 10-08-2011 08:12 AM

MY vote is for #1. they are all great.

nana20010 10-08-2011 08:13 AM

i love the way the red looks

Kathy Osterby 10-08-2011 08:16 AM

I favor the red center.
