A friend picked this up at the second hand store. Any ideas how old the pattern and fabric are? Looks like there is enough fabric to finish the quilt. $5.00 lucky find.

Thanks,

I made a dress from that blue checked fabric for my daughter in the early eighties. Alice Brooks has been making patterns since the 30's so the pattern could be older.

What a great find! and only 5.00 you are so lucky! Think this is from the late 50's or early 40's nice fabric..

Too bad we can't enlarge the pic enough to see the date on the paper. I would guess 50's. My grandmother always cut quilt patterns out of the Kansas City Star and saved them.

I don't know how old, but the blocks are great! Enjoy!

My guess would be 30s-50s.
They look like feedsacks.
Great find!!!

According to this source:
http://quilthistorytidbits--oldnewly...ice-brooks.php

the Alice Brooks byline started in 1933. Fan quilts were extremely popular in the 1930's, and this Alice Brooks pattern is an interesting variation with the unusual scallops.

The fabrics to me look like 40's and 50's. However, peoples' stashes can included fabrics that stretch for several decades.

I'd also guess the 50's, tho some of those fabrics look older than that.

I'd say 1930's. This is the first time I've seen that pattern made that way, with two fabrics used to make one fan. Very sweet $5 find! If there are not enough fabrics there to complete the top, it would be best to find similar reproductions for the new blocks.
