The rules of the forum do not allow political discussions which I think is a good thing, however there is a political ad at the top of this page. I am curious about this because I have no idea how these things work.

Can you post a screenshot?

I don't have direct control over ads. They are supposed to be matched based on the content of the posts. But I can sometimes filter specific domains and prevent them from showing.

Sorry, i don't know how to do that. I was able to cut and paste. It's an ad by Google. Hope this helps.

On which page of the board did it appear? Can you post a link to the topic?

I just saw one to at the top of the recent topics list, but can't seem to copy it for you. It read, "Stop Joe Lieberman."

It's an ad by Google for healthcareforamericanow.org

Let's see if this brings one up...

Who are you voting for during the next guild election?

Well, that brought up a Toyota ad LOL

Am I missing something??? All of the ads I see are at the bottom of the page....

There is so much personalization in the online ad industry now that it's impossible to replicate what you are seeing.

Aside from the content of the page, they factor in the pages you've seen before, your location, other sites you visited, demographic information and so on.

So two people could be looking at the same page and see different ads.

In any case, I blocked that particular domain so we shouldn't have any ads from them any more.

I had wondered about this because I often get French ads so thanks for the explanation. :-D

I keep getting the "find romace" type of ads with mine, and I have been happily married for almost 26 years now.

I wonder if they are telling me something..........
