For me, it would depend. I have a long dining room table, but the 40" wouldn't be long enough for my liking. I'd use the 40" on my kitchen table, and a 20" would be good for my entryway table.
When I've made my own table runners (not bargellos, just different runners) for my dining room table for me to get the overhang that I like the length is 64" |
I would have to have the 40 because my table is 60 inches without leaves. I would love to have one much longer for holidays. Maybe it would be a good idea to take special orders for larger ones.

40 for me too. 20 is just too short

I don't want to get into orders because I don't want time lines and pressure... it would take the joy out of it. And once school starts, quilting time will diminish greatly. |
I would probably buy the bigger one because I have a big table.

I would buy the 40" length. I think 20" is too short. If you want to offer a shorter item, why not make a table topper?
|
I'm no help at all...my table is 81" long (no leaves) so they're both too short.
I'd suggest you make more of the 40" ones simply because it's better to have a runner spill over the edge than to have it look skimpy on the table. If I were buying for a gift and wasn't sure of the table size, I'd buy the longer one just to be safe. |
