I prefer pot holders, can't remember the last time I used a mitt.

I like and use both!

Mitts are nice for some things but I find them bulky and cumbersome. I have small hands and really like the pot holders with the silicone on one side.

After reading all the comments I think it would be a good idea to make dish towels! LOL

Maybe make a couple sizes of hot pads to put the dishes on. Maybe a small -8x8 and a larger 12 x 12.

Seems like every one here is in agreement that 2 mits would be the closest thing to heaven in the kitchen to have 2 mits.

Maybe instiches33 is right. I bet I would be back with a question there too! Was looking at utube for ideas and The sewing room has a cute hot pad tutorial

There is a nice alternative mitt that you might like. I have made these and really enjoy them. So much so that I have gifted them many times.

There are a few tutorials and one u tube video that I could see on the links. I bought the handy heart one years ago. It is nice because your hand is mostly covered from the heat.

I also have made some for this year to gift that have matching dish towels. Really fun hand embroidered designs, like dancing veggies and Christmas snowmen are what I have so far.

Yes, old fashioned I am ........ I still like my pot holders!

So for me, I would be thrilled to receive pot holders (any number) and a larger hot pad/quilt
to set goodies straight from the oven on top! :)

I only use pot holders and that is a great idea about the larger/quilt mat,
to rest on from the oven. I might have to make me some 'pot' quilts.

Thank you for the idea and that would be a lot easier to make than mitts.

I find some potholders (commercially made usually) don't have enough protection from the heat. Before I started quilting I purchased a pair of mitts with a long sleeve which I really like for getting heavier dishes out of the oven. I definitely think the more hot pads the better. I made some recently to use at the lake house and my sister-in-law, niece, great niece and daughter love them. They all want me to draw their name for Christmas. HaHa. Little do they know that I plan to get busy and make some to surprise them with at Thanksgiving.
