We call them Rainy Day quilts.

When they're cut into quarters and rearranged, they look like this:

This is a scrappy variation in which the the block is cut, but not equally. I think it turns out pretty interesting:

Now we're talking! That split 4 ways is what I was looking for but I quartered them equally! Love the Rainy Day name. Thanks everybody!

I went to the link and the quilts are gorgeous. Then I ended up chasing rabbits. Managed to get to "Jelly Roll Races" which is another really cool idea.
