Practice quilt

1 Attachment(s)
I am practicing with my rulers and ruler foot. Of course the Opps is on the light fabric. Would you go back and fix it or just move on?

P-BurgKay 01-23-2017 06:28 AM

If it were me, I would just move on. At least with a little oops, you can tell it wasn't done with a computer and you said this is a practice quilt. Life goes on, don't sweat the little things. Remember, this is practice, not for judging.

Bree123 01-23-2017 06:31 AM

Would I fix an oops on a practice quilt? Not unless figuring out how to "fix a mistake" was the reason I was practicing. If it really bugs you, get a white fabric pen & paint that little stitch. My guess is, you'll be the only one who notices it, though. I leave all of my mistakes in as long as the stitches properly formed. If it happened late in my practice session, I will continue practicing that skill until it is mastered before going onto a client quilt.

PaperPrincess 01-23-2017 06:44 AM

What oops? You mean that little tiny thread that green thing is pointing to? on a large quilt you wouldn't even see it.
I will say that the quilting gods have decreed that most of your oopsies will be on areas with contrasting thread!

QuiltnNan 01-23-2017 07:03 AM

I would just move on.

quiltingshorttimer 01-23-2017 07:57 AM

Was going to say "what opps?" because without the green arrow I sure would not have noticed it! I'd probably be like Bree and do some touchup if after I finished it I could even find it again! Nice job, by the way!

tessagin 01-23-2017 08:01 AM

You mean where you left your signature? I would move on.

catsden 01-23-2017 08:12 AM

I would just move on also.

letawellman 01-23-2017 08:16 AM

An "oops" that small would disappear within a quilt... heck, if you hadn't had the little green arrow, I'd never have seen it!!

Pick this out? Nope, and especially not on a practice quilt!!

Watson 01-23-2017 10:58 AM

I was so busy admiring the points on your stars it took me a minute to find your "oops". I wouldn't give it another thought, unless it really bugs you.

RedGarnet222 01-23-2017 11:51 AM

I am so envious of your lovely quilting. Just keep going and if it bothers you, go back and fix it. Those are some tiny stitches and you don't want to get frustrated at this point, do you?

MadQuilter 01-23-2017 12:45 PM

I will disappear once the quilt is washed.

redstilettos 01-23-2017 12:58 PM

Tartan....you must do beyond Spectacular work if "that" is an oopsie!
:)

Annababy 01-23-2017 01:37 PM

From one type A to another... it will be good for you to leave it😜

dottiemae 01-23-2017 01:44 PM

I know i am new to the quilting world, but it took me several minutes to notice your oopsie and if you hadn't put that green arrow there i would never have caught it. Great job by the way.

rryder 01-23-2017 01:54 PM

Your ruler work is looking very good Tartan! As for the oops, like everyone else, I had a hard time finding it even with your pointer.

wesing 01-23-2017 03:05 PM

If you pull that tiny thing out I may have to quit the QB. If you need some perspective, let me show you some oopsies I've done on quilts that I left in and gave away!

pewa88 01-23-2017 03:25 PM

No, just leave it. When the whole thing is done even you will have to take time to find it. Your quilting looks great.

GingerK 01-23-2017 03:59 PM

Shoot, I had to go back and look for the green pointy thing!! That is what I would definitely remove!! Is this quilt going to the Quilt Police Academy? We are our own worst critics.

Sandra in Minnesota 01-23-2017 05:02 PM

Move on, too!

FabQuilter 01-23-2017 05:04 PM

Keep going Your ruler quilting looks beautiful

Jingle 01-23-2017 05:10 PM

Without the green pointer I would not have seen it.
It looks great to me. Like everyone else says, just keep going.

Terry in the ADK 01-23-2017 05:50 PM

The wonderful woman who introduced me to FMQ on a Sweet 16, said to continue on until you finish the quilt. If you still can see the oops, fix it. Usually it just disappears. Very helpful advice.

Mariposa 01-23-2017 06:03 PM

I would just move on~

liking quilting 01-23-2017 07:14 PM

Don't sweat it.. that's still beautiful.

cherylmae 01-23-2017 11:11 PM

well that oops is so small I had to get my magnifying glass out. It's beautiful. I love the concept of it. You go girl!

citruscountyquilter 01-24-2017 03:20 AM

If you hadn't pointed it out I wouldn't have noticed. Move on!

Wanabee Quiltin 01-24-2017 04:51 AM

You must be a perfectionist because that little stitch will disappear when the quilt is washed. I say 'forget it'.

PaperPrincess took the words right out of my mouth...and once washed, you probably wouldn't even be able to find it.

MargeD 01-24-2017 05:12 AM

I would just let it be, especially since you say you are practicing. I really like the quilting.

annette1952 01-24-2017 06:07 AM

I know, we are our own worst critics but I don't think you will ever notice this especially after it is washed one time. Just enjoy your new ruler foot & rulers & have fun with it. It looks like you are doing an awesome job!

This is great advice and I think I'm going to take it myself!

MacThayer 01-24-2017 10:17 AM

I thought the green arrow was the oops! Lol! It's not worth fixing. I might fix a bigger one if I wanted to practice fixing oopsies, but not one this small. Unless my obsessive compulsive self kicks into high gear.

quilterpurpledog 01-24-2017 10:29 AM

I would be celebrating if I completed a quilt with only one 'oops'. I know me well enough to think I would 'fix it'. However, matching the fix into what is there without it showing would be another challenge. I think I would perhaps move along and see whether or not there are any more 'oops'. Most of us would probably say that most of the quilts we finish have a few imperfections. Mine do but I never point them out.

Innov8R 01-24-2017 10:33 AM

Nothing is perfect. That's just as it should be.

I would leave it.......It is a practice quilt after all....and none of them are supposed to be perfect!

maryellen2u 01-25-2017 04:58 AM

That's like what my Grandmother would say, "If someone on a trotting horse would not see it, it's not worth noting".
Relax! OMG! It is so beautiful. I love that rich cream color and intense blue. What stellar fabric choices!

Jean in Ohio13452 01-25-2017 05:49 AM

Wouldn't have noticed the Thread if you hadn't pointed it out... Since this is a Practice Quilt you can try different piecing and quilting stitches ( different designs) then donate the quilt to worthy charity... They will just notice the Warmth and Love that went into it...

Mamia 01-25-2017 01:22 PM

No one is going to see it but you unless you point it out. Love your block it's beautiful

Nan C 01-25-2017 05:26 PM

For a practice quilt, I think this is beautiful. And a little oops makes it unique. Happy quilting 😊
