beautiful

Babs194068 05-07-2011 03:02 AM

I have a quilt my Aunt made a very long time ago and the prairie points are still beautiful.

grannie cheechee 05-07-2011 03:21 AM

That quilt is darling. Love it.

K.P. 05-07-2011 03:50 AM

I have several I've done with prairie points and washed, they all look just fine. If you've used fairly nice cotton, it is soft enough that it should wash well.

harvsstuff 05-07-2011 03:53 AM

I love your quilts and the points are awesome. Dont know about the washing effect though.

DianneK 05-07-2011 03:56 AM

I love 30's fabrics with lots of white, prairie points are a very nice finish. Glad all came out OK in the wash!

Blinky 05-07-2011 04:05 AM

I have never done prairie points but had to tell you your quilt is beautiful!!! I love it! I will have to give the pp a try!

Gorgeous quilt, the Prairie Points are perfect for it. I hope they stay nice too.

quiltmom04 05-07-2011 04:19 AM

This is the experience I've had with prairie points. They become a little less pointed with wash AND with use, but not so much I found it bothersome. Yours look like they are interlocked, and unfortunately, I have found that way of constructing them to be less stable than when you just overlap them. And the size plays a part in how they hold up. The smaller they are, the more stable they are. Your quilt is lovely!! Hope the points DON'T give you problems!

I've done several things with prairie points and haven't had any problem with them wrinkling. I think it will depend on the fabric quality. Your quilt is gorgeous! Looks so springtime!

Buckeye Rose 05-07-2011 04:37 AM

You made a beautiful quilt and I really like the prairie points. When it is washed the points will soften and not be so crisp, but if you want them crisp, a bit of spray starch should do the trick.

supergma 05-07-2011 04:46 AM

Such a beautiful quilt. Love the pattern & colors. I will have to find that pattern!

nclauri 05-07-2011 04:47 AM

I agree.......this would also be a darling baby quilt. You did a fabulous job. I've washed prairie points before and some of them will bend a bit but they usually did fine. Mine were on baby quilts so I don't know if that makes a difference since they were small and didn't get so smushed in the dryer. Don't let that deter you from doing prairie points again though. They really add something to the right quilt. Great job......wish this was my quilt.........LOL

PamB8s 05-07-2011 04:50 AM

I love the quilt, beautiful. We had a quilt when I was young that my grandmother made that had points on the edge. They seemed to wash fine, There were a few wrinkles, but everything just blended with the whole quilt. I will look around and see if I still have that quilt (I'm thinking my sister took it). But if I do I will take a picture for you. Have a blessed day, and again beautiful job on this quilt.

matraina 05-07-2011 04:53 AM

Love the quilt, the colors, and your Prairie Points!

Rettie V. Grama 05-07-2011 05:07 AM

I have used prairie points. The best way to keep them from coming apart is to very carefully blind stitch by hand the center of the points. If the points are all cotton, you shouldn't have a problem. if they don seem pointy enough after washing, spray sizing or starch along the edges and hand press. They will be fine.

grannypat7925 05-07-2011 05:11 AM

Beautiful quilt. Hopefully the points will remain intact. Let us know.

pieces 05-07-2011 05:14 AM

A cute pattern, finished up nicely. What is the name of this pattern? The points will soften when washed. As long as the fabric is a good quality they will hold their shape.

Peggyinno 05-07-2011 05:14 AM

Love this pattern. It's a beautiful quilt!

Iamquilter 05-07-2011 05:19 AM

Lovely quilt. My mother used to put prairie points on all her baby quilts. They wash up very nice.

running1 05-07-2011 05:22 AM

Oh I really like that! I haven't made prairie points... even
bought a special ruler to make it easier... sigh

LOVE your quilt! Will be watching the responses??

Auntieru 05-07-2011 05:25 AM

What a wonderful quilt. I have used prairie points on the sashing seam lines, not on the edges. They wash well, but do seem to have a private life of their own. They stand up or lean either way. This changes from washing to washing. The good news is that as the quilt ages, every thing becomes softer and more snuggly.

Balala 05-07-2011 05:26 AM

I dont know what will happen because I am new at quilting but your quilt is beautiful.

olebat 05-07-2011 05:29 AM

At perfect spring/summer look. Better inspiration than I've seen in some of the magazines! I can't answer the question you posed. This will be a good before and after learning for all of us. Please do post an after shot. I like the puffy look of the washed quilts, and look forward to seeing the personality of the points.

Latrinka 05-07-2011 05:34 AM

awe, that's a precious quilt!

JANICE E. 05-07-2011 05:34 AM

Novice.for.now 05-07-2011 05:36 AM

I really like that quilt. Hope the points look just as pretty after it is washed. You did a good job.

Gatormom3 05-07-2011 05:40 AM

Wow - that is gorgeous! So glad it came through the wash ok.

Lucky Lindy 05-07-2011 05:43 AM

Your quilt is great! It's so fresh looking, I can't guess what will happen to the points after laundry, will be interested to hear.

GammaLou 05-07-2011 06:08 AM

What a beautiful quilt! I just bought a baby quilt and pillow sham at an estate sale and it has prairie points on both. They are soft but still very pretty and they have been washed many times. Enjoy your quilt!

red-warrior 05-07-2011 06:10 AM

Beautiful quilt and the prairie points really make it pop! Thanks for sharing!

Lockeb 05-07-2011 06:12 AM

Love your quilt!! Yes, the points will crinkle some.....iron if you must :-D

Pickle 05-07-2011 06:39 AM

I love this quilt and would love to have the name of it also. I have just purchased my first fat quarters for making a quilt on a white background. This looks like a good place to start.By that I mean not too complicated."I hope" lol

I can't wait to see all the answers because I have an idea for pillow cases for my grands for Christmas.

grumpy90650 05-07-2011 06:57 AM

very very cute quilt, i have never done prairie points, so all the 'pointers' (LOL) here will help out...........

Ziva 05-07-2011 07:04 AM

Very pretty quilt!

g-maquilts 05-07-2011 07:13 AM

I put prairie points on a lot of baby quilts. They wrinkle a little but are not that bad. Kids love to put fingers into the folds. You can always touch them up with an iron but really not necessary. Your quilt is gorgeous. I love 30's prints too.
