They become softer but it doesn't deter from the beauty of the points.

I have made prairie points on baby qults...just not lately.
They were washed before I gave them away and they came out just fine. Never gave it a thought that they wouldn't. The way you fold them...then sew, I can't see how they wouldn't come out looking good. |

I made a quilt for my daughter about 15 years ago with prairie points and they are still nice and pointy and have held up really well. It was a very high quality cotton fabric so this may have helped a little. I think your points will be just as perfect after washing your beautiful quilt. Beautiful work
