Connecting Threads has pre-wound bobbins. Cotton, white, black and an assortment, made for quilters. I don't think it is wise to use thread made for embroidery machines for machine piecing. We put too much time, effort, and money into our projects to have them later fail due to skimping on thread

I use them as much as possible !!! Saves so much time ..... don't have to wind a bunch of bobbins! Handy, dandy little things they are!! :D
|
The plastic ones can be rewound on the sidewinder bobbin winder. I use them for "odd ball" colors that I don't want to put on my Pfaff bobbins.

I use pre wound, but lately, I have had problems with not being able to find the end of the thread. I end up cutting them with a small mini utility knife.
I was having so many problems with the bobbins winding too tight when I wound my own, I have never had a problem with the pre wound. I even figured out what I was doing wrong and now I have a lot of bobbins wound when I do a project, I don't have to stop and wind! |
I am celebrating bec I stumbled into this thread, I HATE winding bobbins .... absolutely HATE that chore. I have tried the prewound ones with little relief, but I was buying cheap. Now I have a place to go to and know what to look for. Thank you, thank you, thank you

I use size L in my Brother SE350 (Sew/Emb) machine, but my Brother PE770 (Emb only) takes the size M which are larger. The sales sites usually have a chart or references but in any event usually a phone number and you can call and tell them what you have and they can tell you what it takes.
Love them!!! Marysewfun |
I use pre wound cotton all the time. They last a long time and I just love them.
|
I use pre-wound 100% cottom bobbins all the time for piecing, they work great, I buy them by the gross at
five t's embroidery supplies on-line.Think last time i looked at five t's their around 35 dollars a gross. |
I don't use pre-wound bobbins because I can't find them to fit them to my sewing machine, a Viking Emerald 203. If you do, please let me know!!!
|
i use the paper-sided ones, the L size. and when i use them i take the paper sides off. I sew mostley on a pfaff machine.
|
I use the paper sided bobbins, too. Love the convenience. The last tube of them (10/tube, I think) was from YLI.
|
I save my bobbins from the prewound ones and wind thread on them that I do my hand embroidery with. It doesn't matter if they are wound a certain way and I can carry several with me in less space to carry all of the spools of thread.

Are these available for any machine? I have a Viking and also a Janome.
|
my one machine is a Kenmore made by Janome; that one I use them on. I have a Viking #1 but I haven't tried them on it. In one of my sewing classes this one lady uses them on her Viking. It won't hurt to try and see if it sews right. I wasn't sure since my bobbins are made differently for the #1 if they'd fit. I use my kenmore the most and the bobbins look the same.
|
I have a Janome 9500 and cannot find in my book anything about the bobbin size. Does anyone know which one I should use?

This is the greatest place for answers to our important questions, you can find more here than anywhere.
I love this site. |
from what I seen on the web you use either a 15 or a L; it doesn't matter. another person orders hers for the same machine from arc. hope this helps

Thanks for the info.
