Problem with bobbin case????

Hi, I have a Janome 3160 QDC, about a year old and the bobbin case has started jumping out of place and binding the machine down. I have to take the plate off the top of the bobbin and put it back like it is suppose to go, clean out the extra threads and put it all back together again. There is no pattern to when it does this. It may sew a lot and then suddenly do it or it may sew 6 inches and do it again. Anyone have any ideas? I will be out of pocket until Monday but can't wait to hear your suggestions.

Sorry I don't have any suggestions or a clue..........sounds very annoying. I would probably change the needle...........but don't know............calla

Make sure your top thread coming from the spool is not catching on the little nick on the edge of the spool. I remember this happening to me with my Viking Rose. The spool lays on it's side in it's holder & I sometimes have to turn the spool around to keep the thread from catching.

My Janome 6500 kept doing this. It rattled, growled, jumped out of place and finally jammed when I put the needle right through the bobbin case. My dealer was no help and kept telling me it was "operator error". Finally I found out (it doesn't tell you in the manual) on the Janome 6500/6600 forum that there is an oil wick (it's not lint!) in a small hole under the bobbin case (upper left corner) in the machine that sometimes dries out. Put a drop of oil in there and the bobbin case stays in place and operates quietly until it dries out again. I now oil it every time it starts to sound a little noisy. I found this whole bobbin issue very annoying and I fought for months with my machine until I finally had the problem solved. My dealer also charged me for a new bobbin case which I also thought was extremely unfair!

I have been having the same thing with my Janome 11000 and have not found a solution. I always oil my machine so don't think that is the answer. I have two 11K's, or should say did have, as the one got me so mad I traded it in on the new 12K. If you find an answer I sure would like to know as I still have one 11K left I use a lot.

I have a Janome 3160 QDC and the same thing happened to me. I have found that cleaning the lint out from under the bobbin case often does stop it from jumping out of place as often. But getting there cost me a new bobbin case as well. I have not oiled my machine so I might try this as well.

It's not the lint under the case causing the trouble (although that might help somewhat). It's the oil wick that dries out in that little hole under the bobbin case. It makes a huge difference!!! It doesn't seem to dry out on every Janome, just some of them. One drop of oil in that place will probably fix your problems. Since I now keep that spot oiled in addition to the places mentioned in the manual, I have had no more trouble.

Thank you so much. I will definitely try oiling my machine. I appreciate your help!

I have a husqvarna saphirre doing the same thing, I have changes bobbins and needles. I finally just got feed up and put it away until after christmas and grabbed a back up machine. Mine is only 2 years old with not alot of sewing time on it. If you discover the solution please let meknow.

I have a Janome Jem Platinum.......I don't know if they're the same but I found you can put the bobbin case back in wrong after cleaning. And it will make that kind of noise. Check to make sure you really put it in right.
