My list would only depress me so I refuse to think about it. Instead I'll think like Scarlett (O'Hara) " After all, tomorrow is another day to quilt." I'm pretty sure that's what she said. ; )

Alondra 11-20-2011 11:32 AM

Seriously, this thread has really inspired me to dig out all my kits and other unfinished/unstarted and forgotten projects. I could free up a lot of cabinet space for fabric, as well as get a clearer idea of what I DO have and what needs to be planned into my quilting schedule. Thank you all, again, for lighting a fire under me!

NDQuilts 11-20-2011 12:04 PM

I have also though of a few that no longer want to construct, so I'm taking the fabric and putting it into the sale bin. There I just downsized.

linmid 11-20-2011 01:02 PM

Ask me no questions and I'll tell you no lies. Enough said? LOL

Dodee 11-20-2011 01:43 PM

Afraid to count. Have them in big plastic container on down to the smaller size.

SouthPStitches 11-20-2011 01:50 PM

Too many to count. Just building for my retirement!

CarrieC 11-20-2011 01:51 PM

I'm afraid to count. I am, however, reassured that I am not the only one alone in this..... we should come up with a name for this condition...

CajunQuilter2 11-20-2011 01:57 PM

I have one that is waiting to be quilted and it is a Christmas gift so I need to get a move on. Then since I am gonna be a new grandma in May I can finally make all the projects I have collected over the last 2 years for when the time came. Hehehehe. That is about 5-6 of them, and then......!!!! Well lets see, about another 10-15 things on my must do list.

I can't count that high either. I just pray for a long life of quilting.

oldpiglady 11-20-2011 02:17 PM

I have 5 finished TOPS waiting to be sandwiched. Two project for quilts half done, have been since summer, one huge celtic knot quilt I'm making for DD and SIL for Christmas..not sure I am going to make it. Yesterday a friend at work asked me if I'd make her a bottle holder like mine..so that took a couple hours out of my day off, I still have to make a table runner for the Mom, I may cheat and use some blocks I'd started for yet another quilt. have to make a pillowcase for the brother. And it's only a month away. Why, oh why, did I wait so long???

MargeD 11-20-2011 02:20 PM

I'm with SewFlower - too many to count and don't want to count. We moved to an apt. after 33 years in our 3-bedroom home, and I just found not one but two BOM quilts that I forgot I had, along with 12 blocks handpieced in the 8 pointed star pattern in blue with a center fussy cut flower, along with too many to count. Oh well, I'll get there eventually.

tutslady 11-20-2011 03:49 PM

On last count I had over 30 WIP but I am doing good on finishing some. I just finished by king size grandmothers garden fall quilt that I have been stitching by hand for 5 years. Now on to the long arm for quilting. I am not going to attemp hand quilting that after all this time. Lesson learned, but at least I did finish it. LOL I think having WIP in part of our job description as a quilter isn't it?

butterflies5518 11-20-2011 05:02 PM

I finish a quilt before I begin another (just my way to do things), but have 3 more in project bins (fabric gathered/purchased), pillow cases for DGC and some table runners for the gals at work. I do not have a large sewing room so I am limited to immediate projects and not too far out.

this is the perfect answer for me, lol!

Irene Frohreich 11-20-2011 06:12 PM

So many to do, so little time to do them!

Phannie1 11-20-2011 06:18 PM

I have a few. I have dreams of learning how to machine quilt so I few projects are just for learning and then some are for sending out to have done right. Someday with practise I will be doing all. I have my mom collecting hankies for me to do a butterfly hankie quilt. so I have a few more added already.

Be fan of GWTW. She did say that Just as Rhett was going out the door to play golf. Anyway that is what I do when my hubby goes to play.

decky 11-20-2011 07:04 PM

I don't think I want to know how many I have. I do know there are alot of them.

oldbalt99 11-20-2011 10:25 PM

Thank goodness I just finished one, but this week I have to pull together one I have the top done, and I just spent a whole nine hours pulling apart four sheet, washing and ironing, for a grautaion quilt, and still have my mother's winter quilt to make before march. My grand niece and friend is still thinking about two youth bed quilts, they want. That makes six.

Jim 11-20-2011 11:10 PM

I have far too many in progress but today I bound two memory quilts that should go out this week to a customer... and I make 4 twin size twister quilts..ready to be cut apart and to be resewn into the twisters by next weekend so I can quilt them...in the last 9 days I have quilted 7 quilts....3 king size 1 full 1 twin and 2 throws

Ann912 11-21-2011 01:33 AM

There are so many quilts I want to make..........I'm afraid to count them!

JeannieT 11-21-2011 03:35 AM

Now I don't feel so bad afetr seeing some of your confessions! It was my goal to have all my UFO's finished by year-end, so I could start all new stuff on Jan 1.....not going to happen, but I have made progress. Good luck to all of you finshing up those UFO's!!

deedum 11-21-2011 04:15 AM

Agreed. I am feeling much better now that I seen of the post on this subject. Makes me realize that is part of this whole addiction :) *giggles*

helenquilt 11-21-2011 06:43 AM

I could finish one by the time I could count unfinshed projects

EllenwoodGa 11-21-2011 07:32 AM

All true quilters are relatives. We all love quilting so much that we can't complete one project before we see another pattern that we must start. I have over 15 projects ready to start, all the fabric, pattern, rulers and threads are in a container wait on me. I'm presently working on 5 quilts that must be completed by Xmas. My sister just started quilting and she says all the time that she must complete one project before starting another, that she doesn't wont to be like me. What she doesn't understand is that this is my beloved hobby and I'm not on the clock at work, I'm retired and having fun.....SMILING

Shirls4sons 11-21-2011 08:04 AM

At this time I have about 15 quilts that I'm either working on or is cut out and waiting for me. I love it! There is so many more plans in my head of course. :) But I'm 75 years old so of course they will never all come to the cutting board. But it is fun to plan and dream about quilts, isn't it?

lillybeck 11-21-2011 10:10 AM

I though I was bad with 14 waiting.lol You all make me feel so much better about myself.

Do they have an organization for people like us? UFO Anonymous? Quilters Anonymous?
How about "UFO CAT 2012" - UFOs Controlled And Tackled 2012" :)
Or "UFO TAC 2012 - UFOs Tackled and Completed 2012"
If you like it, I can start a thread, we can make a detailed list, and get these UFOs DONE!
Maybe we can have prizes each month :) (maybe send the 'winner' one of our UFOs that we don't want to finish :) LOL)

That sounds like a great idea! I'm willing ... I think ... unless it becomes too depressing ... or I find something new I want to start ... hummmm.

LOL

ME TOO !!! I am really close to getting at least 4 done and out the door for charity !!!

babyboomerquilter 11-21-2011 04:57 PM

I have way too many things started, then I see something else I want to to, and the list keeps getting longer and longer!

quiltingshorttimer 11-23-2011 09:29 AM

Feeling better after this post! I only have 8 bed size quilts and lots of ideas for stash!

cmmcbride 11-23-2011 10:51 AM

7 projects, all in various stages of completion. I'm feeling a little pushed to complete something here very soon...

ksdot417 11-24-2011 04:08 PM

I have lots! One day when I was having a sew day with 3 of my quilty buddies they suggested I make a list. We got out a dry erase board and we made a list of the 10 projects I wanted to complete the most. So far 8 finished - 2 getting close. I found that I enjoyed getting things finished so I could mark them off the board - made me feel like I got something accomplished.

michelehuston 11-25-2011 04:04 AM

I gave up and hope to live to 125 so I can do them all!!!

gramarraine 11-25-2011 07:43 AM

I know I have at least 20 projects or kits that need to be done. That includes about 5 or 6 that I have blocks made for but have not put together yet. I have been working on them because it makes me nervous to think about all all the unfinished projects I have. My list does not include the ones that I have the top made and are waiting to be quilted. I am trying to get tops made so when I need one it will be there waiting and then all I have to do is get it quilted.

Julie in NM 11-25-2011 08:12 AM

I found a Christmast UFO yesterday while trying to sort fab. Easy table runner so will try and get to that this weekend. Counting UFOs is hard. Kinda like counting carbs or calories. Why? It's just a number!!

deedum 11-25-2011 06:54 PM

I like the idea of the dry erase board, I am getting more projects started and then start another one. I am getting out of control. A dry erase board might be very helpful, since I tend to be list maker and get more done with a list...mmmm
might help me control my spending if I can stay focused on my getting my projects done. Thanks for the idea.

deedum 11-26-2011 01:35 PM

Bought 8 fat quarters today, I see another project soon to be started.

sharon b 11-26-2011 01:43 PM

Oh My goodness- not even going to try and count :) My head would hurt, I would get overwhelmed and well ... LOL Lets just say too many

Sandra in Minnesota 11-26-2011 02:58 PM

Same as jmabby, never check what needs to be done, just enjoy the moment.
