Projects bought and waiting..........

I took my friend out for a birthday lunch today, which included visiting quilting stores that we had never been too! It was fun, but I didn't buy much because I have so many promised patterns, materials and such waiting for me at home. I came home and counted 21 at least. Time for me to get serious. What about everyone else? How many do you have if any?

Sewflower 11-18-2011 06:32 PM

LOL Can't count that high.

labtechkty 11-18-2011 06:42 PM

two waiting, but there are so many I want to do...lol

Jo M 11-18-2011 07:02 PM

Well, let's see...these are the ones staring at me from their bins-
4 small camping/RVing theme pillows (12x16ish) 2 for DD & 2 for DS's camper
"Spruce It Up" Christmas quilt for DD
Aprons & potholders (Christmas gifts) for sisters, nieces, DD, friend, church ladies...(just finished a set tonight)
Pillowcases
Totes
Postage stamp quilt - blocks just need sashing
"Tools" quilt for DGS & "Manly" quilt for DS

Now I'm embarrased. I'm not a slacker...just a busy girl.

jaciqltznok 11-18-2011 07:08 PM

seriously I lost count after 30+

lfstamper 11-18-2011 07:13 PM

Really, count them? No way...lol.

Sunnie 11-18-2011 07:13 PM

Ah, just spent an hour and a half de-cluttering and found 5 WIP quilts (didn't know I had that many started) plus 4 quilts with fabrics lined up to start. Then there are the microwave bowl mitts I want to make for Christmas gifts and the fleece dog mats I need to make for trophies for a show. Many more patterns sitting around that I want to do. I guess I should get busy this weekend and try to finish off the WIPs. Then I can have some fun with the new stuff.

deedum 11-18-2011 07:17 PM

well I am starting to feel better, I am not alone!

AFQSinc 11-18-2011 07:48 PM

I feel like getting myself shocked this evening. So I'll play along and make a list. Here we go:

WIPS (To be finished piecing): Party mix. What a Bunch of Squares. Daiwabo BOM from 2003(?) Topsy-Turvy. 2011Thangles Series 7 Buck-A-Block.
Quilts to be sandwiched & quilted: What a Bunch of Squares (Yellow). Christmas Tree. Paisley Squares.
New projects: Rainbow blocks. Daiwabo Crosswalk. Daiwabo zig-zag. Civil War spools. Crow on a Pumpkin.

7 actual WIPS, 5 on deck. Not as bad as I thought it would be. This is also taking into consideration that in the past year I have completed 4 quilts (all of them new, no WIPS), and some mug rugs. I would like to get some of the projects that have been hanging around for a few years cleared out so that I can start getting into some wool applique projects. Now, if only my husband would agree to take himself, our kidlet, and the dog off for a nice long holiday, hire a cleaner to come in a couple of weeks a month, and someone to stock the fridge with a few tasty tidbits I could get to work! :)

jmabby 11-18-2011 07:52 PM

I enjoy making a quilt, if I start to check on what I haven't finished I'll get upset. Most do get done, but applique and the small detail ones take quite some time, I have to feel like doing it.

catladyquilts 11-19-2011 03:30 AM

let me think, 2 shelving units of projects with patterns and fabric all neatly stacked in their containers, at least 50 quilt tops to be quilted and we won't go into the "want to do" list

0tis 11-19-2011 03:45 AM

I am afraid to count them - I just figure I have years ahead of me because I have so many projects in the works. When my shoulder stops hurting then I will be back to normal (have a pinched nerve in my neck - causing shooting pains in left shoulder blade - left arm - no fun at all). I need to finish two quilts for christmas and its coming fast.

teddysmom 11-19-2011 03:46 AM

Since I've only been quilting a little over a year, I don't have a lot of projects but do have a few. My sister and I went on a quilting cruise in August--visited 4 different quilt shops. Now have material and patterns for 7 projects (already started one so that would have been 8).

lynnsim 11-19-2011 04:05 AM

I have too many UFOs to count also. My goal is to start on them in 2012.

quiltinghere 11-19-2011 04:41 AM

I have LOT AND LOTS AND LOTS MORE projects and collections going that I can list but that would take too much time. I'm thinking No More Buying in 2012 and Lots More Completing in 2012.

Do they have an organization for people like us? UFO Anonymous? Quilters Anonymous?
How about "UFO CAT 2012" - UFOs Controlled And Tackled 2012" :)
Or "UFO TAC 2012 - UFOs Tackled and Completed 2012"
If you like it, I can start a thread, we can make a detailed list, and get these UFOs DONE!
Maybe we can have prizes each month :) (maybe send the 'winner' one of our UFOs that we don't want to finish :) LOL)

deedum 11-19-2011 04:55 AM

Maybe that is just what we need in 2012! Might really encourage us to get moving, I spend too much time on here, but I enjoy it!

SuziC 11-19-2011 04:56 AM

So MANY it's making my head spin! LOL

nhweaver 11-19-2011 05:03 AM

Oh my! I have too many to finish in my lifetime. I am addicted to quilt kits. And put together fabric with patterns that I just have to make and put together my own quilt kit. I am addicted to crumb quilting, and have a huge stash now. In 2011, I have been avoiding my LQS, as I am like a gambler at slot machines and a pocket full of quarters when I get within 20 yards of fabric. For 2012 my goal is to sell some of my stash and kits, (???), if I can let some of them go.

Crafty1 11-19-2011 05:35 AM

Too many to count and more than I can handle :(

ontheriver 11-19-2011 05:42 AM

I have lots of projects waiting, a pile of tops and runners needing quilting, a pile needing binding, and a pile that needs the handsewing done on the binding. I usually do the handsewing at night. When I get a lot of things that need binding I spend a day doing that, I always have one on the frame being quilted which I do for at least an hour a day, the rest of my time I spend piecing.

I'm on board with that. I have too many things to finish. No more starts with the only exception being swaps. And, I'm not involved with too many of those. I used to be such a good little quilter. Start to Finish. I have 5 quilt tops waiting to be sandwiched and quilted and numerous small projects. And some are several years old. Time to finish. I will be looking to see if you've started a thread. Being held accountable not such a bad thing.

Mary O 11-19-2011 05:49 AM

Are you kidding? Too many to finish in my lifetime.

NDQuilts 11-19-2011 06:41 AM

Let's see:

Waiting to quilt - white on white swans, 2003 scrappy BOM, NY beauty
Quilts in process - quilted diamonds, dear Jane, GFG, pickled clamshell, 2009 BOM, affairs of the heart, undercover in Houston
Purchased fabric - Amish bride, feathered star, Hawaiian appliqué, 2001 BOM, Willowberry calendar quilt, mariners compass, lone star, r Pandolph Christmas, willowberry christmas, jinny Beyer journey quilt kit

Officially embarrassed by this confession.

I should be able to move three projects from "in process" to the quilting pile by the end of the year

luci4 11-19-2011 06:46 AM

I have too many to count. Need to get busy and finish some of them instead of adding more.

Mariposa 11-19-2011 06:53 AM

No way I am gonna count! ;)

Jackie Spencer 11-19-2011 07:43 AM

Before I retired I started buying kits and patterns and fabric to make those patterns because after I retired I wouldnt have the extra money to buy them, I never took into account everything I already had. Well I have been retired 3 years now and if I never bought another thing I will never live to make all these quilts. But the good news is I have daughters and granddaughters who love to quilt, so its all good!

I'm a bit scared to go along with this even though I know that I need to. Although, there is still a bit of time before 2012 starts to pack the larder! :) I will say that if a challenge is started I will give it some very serious thought to joining. It would be nice to have some group support in this difficult endeavor.

YukonViv 11-19-2011 09:21 PM

If any....ha ha!! You are so funny.

I honestly have too much. I only started quilting...well almost 3 years ago now. I bough fabric while I was in Anchorage this summer and it's still sitting in the tub I put it in when I returned home and haven't made a thing with it (including Grinch christmas fabric!!!!).

I have a weakness....BOMs. I joined two last year...didn't finish, got about 7 out of 9 blocks on one done and 2 blocks out of 9 on the other. So what did I do this year? Signed up for 3. One I didn't even complete one block with because who has the time???

So, not counting projects on my own, classes with my LQS...I have 5 BOM projects to finish.
LQS classes? well I have one class left this session, a tote bag in December so that doesn't count yet. But I have 2 projects to finish from this fall...Firefly (a new york beauty style wall hanging) and a pineapple quilt. Last session? Oh I actually did good, I finished (not counting the quilting, we're not counting quilting are we???) 2 out of 3 projects. I still have my one block wonder to finish piecing..however, I only have 5 rows left on that one!!!

Previous sessions? Hmm...Rolling Waves and a Autumn Wall hanging (it's applique...takes me forever).

So what am I up to???? 10???? And that's not counting my at home projects...let's not discuss those yet.

I really need to finish something. I don't want to even contemplate my cross stitch WIPS and UFOs...I may need some chocolate to help with this strange bit of woozy-ness that has overcome me.

audsgirl 11-19-2011 11:07 PM

I'm telling myself that I am stocking up for when my husband retires at the end of the year and I won't be able to buy things then. I don't think he bought it!

Gladys 11-19-2011 11:09 PM

I have several just initially started but none finished. I know I need to finish just one but I'm ADD and get bored and go to something else.

faykilgore 11-20-2011 04:07 AM

I refuse to go count them, but will confess to two that need to be finished before Christmas. The lap quilt I started quilting yesterday and the other is a queen-sized flannel that I'm almost half done hand quilting. Oh, and a baby quilt. I will watch this thread and see if someone starts one that we must account for our progress. I have at least 3 I want to finish in 2012. It's difficult when you work two jobs to support your addictions! :)

GailG 11-20-2011 04:14 AM

I have a stack of finished tops and boxes of projects with fabrics ready to go. Unfortunately I will go into those boxes and "borrow" a fabric that will work on something else that I'm doing. Then I'll have to replace the fabric whenever I'm ready for that project. There's this one fabric that I should have bought the whole bolt because i keep going for that green.

CAJAMK 11-20-2011 04:15 AM

With all the baby quilts I have to make the kids will be teens by the time I finish. That does not include promised curtains for a playhouse, kindle cover, swag for my kitchen, oh...all kinds of stuff!

Geri B 11-20-2011 07:16 AM

I too have too many wip...and counting them would be depressing......so, everyone, since a new year is approaching...well, almost, we should make a group resolution - something like finishing one and maybe at least two of these wip this coming year..........someone compose the agreement and we shall say aye to it........

T-Anne 11-20-2011 08:38 AM

Wow, now this a scary question! haha Too many projects in work to count.

fatquarters 11-20-2011 08:54 AM

6 WIP and around 20 that are all ready with fabric and pattern pairs nicely in small containers. I buy the pattern and fabric and then store everything together in small shoebox size clear containers, ready to go. I really would like to do a couple scrappies too. This year I did very little buying, and tried to work on my pile. Of course I bought a little, but mostly backing, or batting. I really have to work on these ones and not buy more. I am not even attending any classes but have booked into a few retreats that will allow me to work on my pile of progects.
I dont like to have too many WIP, drives me a little crazy.

Maybe that could be a new term POPs----Pile of projects!

caspharm 11-20-2011 09:13 AM

I have many waiting to be finished. Most were started when I was working and didn't get finished (either from class or a shop hop).

jcrow 11-20-2011 10:34 AM

I have over 60 quilt kits sitting in my sewing room. Then I have shelves, drawers, rubbermaid tubs, and baskets full of fabrics. I have 9 quilts that I need to bind (I don't like binding one bit), 6 that need to go to the long arm quilter, and about 10 that I'm working on. I'm OCD all the way. I work on one for just so long and get bored and start a new one. That's why I have so many I'm still working on. But I always get them done within a year. I make about 20 quilts a year. I'm retired and quilt almost every day. My housework shows how much I love to quilt :-)

Alondra 11-20-2011 11:23 AM

<hiding face in shame> Not tellin'! Like Sewflower, I can't count that high. Suffice it to say, enough for one lifetime. I'm not as fast (or diligent) at finishing projects as I used to be. Actually, I guess it does serve a purpose... I can't die until I finish all these projects. <G>

Oh, my, you've got even me beat! Too bad we live so far apart, because I'd enjoy binding your quilts. In return, you could cut my fabric for me. Housework? What housework? <G>
