I found one at Tuesday Morning. It was bigger then the first ones that came out. It has interchangeable pins, so I use it for all my machines.

I have a similar gadget, but after I had the bobbin winder on my 201 properly adjusted (long overdue), I haven't had it out on the table at all. My old Bernina 730 has always had very fast even winding and the side winder never feel like an advantage with this machine. To anyone considering bying one I would only recommend it if you think bobbin winding on your machine is cumbersome and you have space enough to have it out on the table. It's one more gadget standing around, and I have enough stuff with three machines and various other gadgets on the shelf. I think mine was under $30, not very expensive, but it never gets used anymore either. With larger cones on the 201 I just have the tread stand in front and through the thread guide on the bed. I keep my machines oiled and cleaned, so everything in working. I can see the advantage when working on machines that aren't your own and not everything is kept up.

use mine when the juki is on the frame

I have the Sidewinder Deluxe it has 4 interchangeable pins, it's the only one that fits my Pfaff. I am very happy with mine. The Deluxe model does give you the ability to adjust the tension, and how full you want to fill the bobbin. I did buy the smaller, lesser expensive model first which did not fit my Pfaff 2044. I was able to return it to JAF's . The bobbin winder on my Pfaff is only working at half capacity so the sidewinder has been money well spent. I would recommend the more expensive Deluxe model. Good Luck on your decision.

I have one too & use it all the time. It doesn't fill the bobbin all the way but I just push the button down & finish filling it myself. I like mine a lot

I liked mine when I had a Baby Lock machine, but my Pfaff bobbins won't fit on the Sidewinder. My old 1970 New Home bobbins won't fit it either.

I love mine, but it doesn't do a good job for my 221 bobbins. It works wonderful for my Babylock. I say get it.

I bought one years ago when they weren't so expensive, and use it all the time. I can use a large cone of thread if I put it on a thread rack. If you buy a sidewinder I don't think you will be disappointed. It is much more convenient (for me anyway) than using the winder on the sewing machine.

I have one and really don't like it. I try it every so often, still don't like it.

I have thought about it. I am a messy quilter, though, and am pretty sure it would vanish quickly. I use the bobbin winder on my dsm, and just wind about a dozen at once. That works for me. If you get one, enjoy it!

I bought the pink one when JoAnn's had it on sale as it winds the bobbins for the Viking machines. I use it and I've used it to refill the clear prewound bobbins when they've run out.

Someone up in WA (I think) was offering bobbin winders and they made me a special spool pin just for the Viking bobbins. I've upgraded from the D1 to the EPIC and still have the problem but at least the bobbin winder on the machine has a separate motor so I can wind while its sewing. Also I find the Janome pre-wound bobbins will fit the EPIC too. The NEB pre-wounds are too short though they worked on the D1 just fine. I still have the other bobbin winder and am thinking of selling it. Its heavy and I know I paid a good price for it. much more than the Sidewinder cost.

I bought the pink one as it will wind the Viking bobbins--the other sidewinder would only wind them if you turned the bobbin upside down and maybe did something else. I find the Viking machines don't wind the bobbins that well and the pink Sidewinder works very well.

MarleneC 11-13-2016 11:09 PM

When the first Sidewinders came out they wouldn't work on Viking bobbins so someone came up with the idea to put the bobbins on upside down and I think there was one more step they did. That is why I waited to get the Pink one and it winds the Viking bobbins the way all of the rest are wound. -----Viking Sapphire. So it sits in the drawer.

Just hold the button down until bobbin is filled to your satisfaction. I do it all the time. Tighten the tension just a bit to make the thread wind tighter on the bobbin--this more thread. I buy pre wounds for my embroidery machines, but this is so handy for the sewing machines as you can wind a lot at a convenient time. I got mine 5-6 yrs ago on ebay for $15.

I have one and use it all the time. I have a hand crank that I do all my piecing on, so winding bobbins is a pain (literally). I usually wind about 15 at a time. It's a great little machine.

Becky's Crafts 11-14-2016 08:38 AM

My DH bought one and has been helping me keep a supply of bobbins handy as I quilt my projects. He really likes it!

mac 11-14-2016 09:49 AM

I also have one. I don't remember which machine it wouldn't take the bobbins for, but it winds my other bobbins. I soon discovered that it didn't wind bobbins all that well. Haven't used it in 5 years.

mjhaess 11-14-2016 10:19 AM

I have two of them and I love them. I have not used the bobbin winder on my machine since I bought them.

romanojg 11-14-2016 02:31 PM

I got mine when I did a lot of hand applique, I'd wind thread onto bobbins so I didn't have to carry spools around with me. I haven't used it in a long time. Mainly because my machine us a Viking which winds the thread differently than most machines and the winder that I had. I now also have a Brother which unlike my Viking I can't wind bobbins while I sew so I was thinking about getting my sidewinder back out again. I hate taking off the thread just to wind a bobbin. I know there are different models of the sidewinders, mine was a low cost one but especially if it'll wind for the Brother its worth it. I have to admit that when I was winding the bobbins for hand work, they were wound very evenly, that is a plus and a must
