I was in Joanns on sunday and had them put a roll away for me for Thursday when it goes on sale for $29 from $99.
I like poly batting b/c I hand quilt and it's easy to quilt thru. I use it for all my quilts, except maybe 8 of them. stopped counting at 350 a few yrs ago. we live on Long island new York, and it's perfect for winter and summer.

Just to give you a comparison... Where I work, we sell Hobbs 80/20, that's 96" wide, for $6.98 per yard. There are 30 yds per roll. 30 yds at $6.98 = $209.00. If you buy the whole roll, you get 30% off, which comes to $146.58.

If you can use a 50% off coupon at JoAnn, it would be well worth it!

I've mostly been using Warm & Natural. How does Hobbs 80/20 compare? Is it 80% cotton, 20% polyester, or what's the 80/20?

While it is expensive to buy a full bolt at one time, I only buy it when it's on sale for 50% off in the store (less my 15% teacher discount) or 60% online with free shipping. Right before Thanksgiving is when I ordered my last bolt online for 60% off and got free shipping. Since most of my quilts are done as either gifts or charity quilts, I've got to save wherever I can.

what width to purchase depends on what size quilts you make- do you make a lot of really big quilts and need the 108" width? if not you are just cutting away the excess, buy the narrower.

Me too. I use leftover batting in hot pads, table mats, bags etc.

I got some at JoAnns for about $99, i like it. its thin enough to machine quilt with yet lightweight in the quilt, unlike the 100% cotton batting from warm & natural brand. I will get more as i need it. what I got is 90" wide & 25 yards long.

I used to buy WN by the piece but JoAnn's had a terrific sale on the whole roll and so I purchased it that way. I can truthfully say, I really like buying by the roll. There is very little waste so I'm sold.

I bought 96", which is good for most quilts I do. I think the Hobbs 80/20 on the roll is more consistent (no thin spots) than what I've had in packages, and I think it's the way to go. I bought mine from Kingsmen Quilting: http://kmquiltingsupply.net/

I buy W&N on the roll at Joann's. A couple of times a year they have those coupons for "10% off your entire order". The batting is usually on sale for 50% off at the same time, so I get 60% off!

I bought the one from Joann's and encountered that the center actually was split when I unrolled it to use.
