The next question, is where do I find/how do I make the "tilts" that everyone is mentioning?

Item # - QT2 - Q-Tilt2 Retail Price - $13.25 The Q-Tilt2 is the handy non-adjustable leg extension kit that will raise the back of your Q-Snap Floor Model about 9" for a more comfortable working angle. Two leg extensions per kit. Call us if you'd like to add this to the purchase of your frame and receive special pricing! |
The clamp on pieces can be substituted with greenhouse clamps..I used my frame very briefly. It was hard on the back because I was constantly twisting my body to get to areas..When I move I will try it again as I should have room to use a rolling chair and go around to where I need to be. I have several sizes of the lap size pvc frames and love them!

I looked up greenhouse clamps and found this:

I've had my Q-snap for about 2 years now - I got it on craigslist for $20!! Love, love, love it - I usually hand tie my quilts and find this little gem to be the best second set of hands ever! Go for it!!

they are sold on Amazon, too

Thanks for everyone's replies! I decided to go ahead and purchase the frame. My father tried to make me one of these frames a year or two ago and couldn't find all of the necessary pieces at the local home depot or lowes so that was our problem with making it cheaply. Plus, at $45 I don't think I could hardly buy all of the pieces for that price especially if you consider the labor time.
Thanks again I always love reading the replies, so nice to have quilting buddies even if they are scattered all across the earth! |
I use the Ulmer quilting frame....I love this frame. If anything ever happened to it, I would buy another. It is a little pricey. I used the PVC frames but I did not care for them.

yes, that is a good price, grab it......to try to make it yourself might end up costing more than the price of one that is made correctly. As far as bending over.....I have one and I have raised the front legs with added pvc to make it tilt. I purchased those from the company who made the table (over 10 yrs ago) and I don't know if it is still available...but just somehow raise those front legs - just like the tiltable wooden handquilting frames available.........

Tilting it. I took a couple cardboard boxes and placed them under the corner legs at the back of the frame. It worked for me. Wonder what I did with those boxes -- guess I'll have to find some more the next time that I use it.
Almost anything would work. If it keeps sliding off twist tie it on!! I'm all for using anything that I already have around. Aileen |
