Qayg dwr

I need pictures please so I can comprehend. I just made a dwr block that Katiedid2 digitized and gave away, I don't know how to put the 4 blocks together so there is not a ragged edge on the backside. Has anyone else done this and can you please show me how to sew this together. I have googled it and can not come up with anything close to this, nothing that has the 4 blocks needing to be sewn together. I would appreciate any and all help with this. I really want to make this quilt but its no use if I can't sew the blocks together. As you can tell I have never done a QAYG.

thank you everyone

I would send Katie a pm (private message) and ask how she did it. I remember her postings as she perfected the design, but don't remember if she did the embroidery on a sandwich or just the fabric & added batting & backing after. You can always sew the blocks together and add another backing fabric.

in her tut, on step 12, she adds the backing square, then does the quilting step. http://www.quiltingboard.com/tutoria...r-t238746.html so i guess we'd have to ask her how she joins her squares. however, when i do mine, i think i'd skip adding the backing square and just do the quilting step with the front and batting. then i'd sew the squares together and then add a full backing. i'd probably just tie or machine tack the backing. maybe, i'll change my mind after i hear katydid's answer. :)

Here is my message I sent to her yesterday and her answer. I know what she is saying about put them in rows but that still does not explain the back to me.
I did send her another message yesterday about the back but have not received an answer yet on that. I did go and search and found pictures of the front of the quilt but none on the back.

Hi Katie you gave me your design awhile back and I am just now starting to do it. I love it, but am not sure how to put the 4 blocks together? Can you help me with this please? I am trying to do the rings all in 1930 Aunt Grace Material and trying to do each block a different material. Am hoping I can do this without using the same material twice. I would appreciate any help in sewing the small blocks together to make a large one.

Thank you

Katiedid2 answer,
lay blocks out in rows...then sew rows together .... I did not sew 4 blocks together at a time, but laid blocks in rows . You can lay 4 blocks out but still I would sew in rows of single blocks . Let me know if this helps.... Go to pictures and search dwr and maybe my photo will help

If you don't want to add sashing on the back, the edges will need to be hand ladder stitched together. Now that is going to take a loooong time. If you don't mind the look of serged edges, you could serge the seams together on the back? Might be a pretty effect if you use a variegated thread?

What a fun quilt and a very clear instruction on how to do it. Thanks for posting.
