The back using various greys with occasional color. DH likes the back better.

Toverly Your quilt is so pretty. I love the bright coloring on this one. Would love to see the other two.
I have never tried this method but do have the hickory nut template. I keep telling myself that I will get around to making one up. Never thought about QAYG for it. As you can see from my avatar I love hexies.

Thanks juliasb, one I gave away without a photo. I'll try to get the Christmas one photographed before it escapes.

Here is my Christmas Quilt. I used a khaki color thread between hexies, it appears gold on the red and green back.

Whether you put strips on your hexies before joining, won't you still be dealing with the "y" seams when joining the blocks together? I am trying to make a 5" hexie quilt. No problem sewing the first row together, but sewing two rows together has the "y
seams. I may just try hand stitching the "y" seams together. Whatcha think?

With this method, you sew long strips by joining opposite sides with short seams. Then take two strips and sew a zig zag motion joining the two strips. No y seams, just a pivot.
