I know that there are alot of different threads here on this. Has anyone made it with the sashing and machine sewed the back sashing or does it have to be by hand? I have been going through them and don't recall it I had seen that done by machine.

Forgive me, but I don't understand the question?

Oh, I have seen some tutorials were after making your blocks you make 2 sashing strips, one for the front and one for the back. On the front you sew the 2 blocks together by machine. And on the back you would sew the sash by machine to one piece the fold your raw edge in and hand stitch it to the other piece of the back. So that both of your blocks are joined together with the sashing between them.
What I am asking is does the back sashing have to be hand sewn?

Just remember the stitching will show on the front and back if machine sewn.

And I also forgot when using the sashing inbetween how much of your block do you leave unquilted? I seen a tutorial or video where they said to leave about 1/2 from the edges.

Here is a tutorial from a board member where there is no hand sewing for the back, if you don't mind the stitching showing, it's a great option!
